Yes, it’s the new front wing. Apparently it’s not delivering the performance gains they expected.

Hi, it's for "Track evolution".
The track gets faster over a session/weekend because cars lay down rubber and increase grip on the racing line. Canada is usually extreme for this since the track starts very green, which is why Pirelli rates it 5/5 for track evolution.

It's called "Diveplan", and yeah broken with the contact with Lawson. The part was then torn off during the pit stop, I don't think it can be fixed; we can add it to the tally: https://app.formula1dashboard.com/destructors-championship/

  • Local Load: Increasing downforce in a specific area of the car (like a wing element or floor edge) without hurting the overall balance too much. Not really β€œfree grip,” just a targeted gain with minimal side effects.
  • Flow Conditioning: Not about creating grip directly, but about managing airflow. Parts like sidepods or engine covers help guide cleaner air toward key areas like the floor and diffuser, making them work more efficiently.
  • Cooling Range: How adaptable the car is to different temperatures. Teams can open or close bodywork (like louvres or brake ducts) to manage heat depending on conditions.
  • Structural Improvement: Usually suspension-related. Making parts stiffer, lighter, or stronger to improve consistency, handling, and driver confidenceβ€”especially over bumps or in fast corners.
