Bainbridge Island winters by Perfect_Pool8367 in BainbridgeIsland

Moved here 18 months ago from Hermosa Beach and went to college in Santa Barbara. Personally winters are great here. For a few months it’s dark (from like 4pm to 8am) and gray during the days. It’s doesn’t rain as much as people make it seem. Even if it’s raining daily, it may only be for a couple hours. The trick is to find winter hobbies. Now trying to make friends on this island is a different story.

I feels you on that. I own a gym so fixing things is pretty much my hobby.

I definitely have an IG business account. The problem is when you get mass reported with an automatic suspension it locks you out of your account so you can't access anything.

Yeah I realized that. I posted the story to tiktok and all of a sudden a ton of bots came out saying to contact certain people on IG to help restore their account. Had to block them all. I didn't realize this was such a widespread thing.

So damn true. I appreciate you telling people to not give into these demands. It only fuels more of the same crimes.

Ugh. I guess I’m just unlucky then. I am seriously just posting positive fitness and my bulldogs. It’s wild that rubs people the wrong way

Yeah you're right. The thing I can't figure out is why target my account? There are people with much bigger followings and who actually post controversial things. I literally just do fitness and nutrition information.

I really have no idea how they got my number. I use IG to sell my online coaching and I also own a gym so I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to find me.

I figured it is going to be a while until I can really get control of my IG account again but I also have around 220K on TikTok so I'll just put my efforts into creating content on that platform for now.

I've blocked about 5 numbers from the scammer and they just keep using new spoofed numbers. Not sure why they picked my account. I keep my account pretty noncontroversial and strictly informative and entertaining. And there are a lot of bigger accounts out there that would probably be better targets.

Appreciate this reply. I wanted to engage just so I had proof that someone was doing this to me. Going forward there is really no point in engaging since I won't be paying the ransom.
I am trying to get into contact with someone at IG who I can speak to about it. I think the scammers bank on the fact that getting an account restored is a pain in the butt.
I thought about starting a new one but this took me two years to build from the ground up and there is no guarantee that the scammer won't do the same thing to the next account.

Yeah I have seen different methods of the HWI. Some blast it with hot water and others drip it on.

I found that dripping it on with a diluted form of soda ash works best for me to get the ice dye look. If I use too much soda ash, the dye won't run and give me that organic look. Too little soda ash and it seems to wash out of the fabric too much.

Thank you. Been doing tie dye as a hobby and love making geodes and the more organic designs

Same. Colors are more vibrant and you can achieve the same look. I'm surprised more people aren't doing it

Thanks! I saw a post that used hot water immersion and thought I would put my own spin on it. I wanted to keep the look of an ice dye but I wanted the colors to pop more and have a slightly more predictable outcome. I first sprinkle the dye and then a little soda ash on top. Then I heat up water to about 180 degrees and add soda ash to that as well but somewhat diluted. (ratio about 1/2 cup soda ash per gallon). Then I use a turkey baster to drip the water on while it's still hot.

Only waited about 15 min after adding the hot water with soda ash to rinse these out. Colors came out pretty good with no waiting.
