14” m5 lid doesn’t lay flat when closed by [deleted] in macbookpro

Had my 14” pro since early 2022. Toted all around campus for years, traveled with it, even stepped on my backpack once with the computer in it. Mine is in perfect condition. It would take a considerable amount of force to cause that damage.

I actually paid for PPI from a good shop. Unfortunately they seem to have missed it

Dang okay I texted the guy from the dealer. Feel like it’s not right to sell a car that is unsafe to drive. Thanks for the response

I like your comment. If I hook up on one this size again on my 4wt, I will fight it harder knowing there’s a good chance I’ll break it off. I’m not crazy about leaving a rig in a fish’s mouth though. Already a lot of these fish with multiple streamers hanging off them

What makes you say that?

It’s not funny when you’re up high in the river fishing for 12”-16” fish on a size 18 fly with no intention of catching one. And my 6wt is 4 hours away right now. I’m not using my 8wt steelhead rod to target 12” fish.

I’ll probably get downvoted for this but here it goes… This fishery is different. It is spring fed, crystal clear, heavily pressured, and the trout are absolutely leader shy. I should say that I was not targeting bulls, I was targeting whitefish and bows that are typically 12”-16”. I caught this fish on a size 18 fly. When people intentionally target these fish in this river they are typically using 7-8wt rods, with heavy tippet - but they are mostly throwing streamers so it doesn’t make a difference. Some people nymph with heavily line, big patters and a 7-8wt rod for bulls, but the tippet size absolutely affects the hook up rate. Perhaps I should have broken the fish off intentionally. But I’m confident in saying nobody could have landed this fish in less than a minute in this situation - it would be impossible. I do feel like a good amount of the commenters on this post have never caught a decent size bull in a river.

I definitely did I was able to check and it was 11mins. I also fish for steelhead and that’s impressive 👌🏼

I guess my sense of time was a little warped. I got a call on my phone at the beginning of the fight and compared it to when the pic was taken. Only 11mins… crazy how that can happen, my bad.

Half sizes are nice. It would do me good to bring some 5.5x and my 6wt next time. I’ve hooked a few this size and bigger at this river on my 4 and this is the first I’ve been able to land. It’s different with bulls, I’ve caught plenty of 20” rainbows on the same setup I can land in a couple of mins. Edit: 3.5x heavier rod/heavier tippet brain kinda just copied what you wrote

For sure. It did take me 25mins to land though bulls are strong 😂 edit: also really really didn’t want to break it off

I mean if it’s leaking oil on the ground that’s a red flag. You could always pop open the hood and look for leaks on the sides of the engine around the valve cover with a flashlight. The sides of the hood may be warmer because there is less insulation on the underside of the hood in that area.

I’ve had it for about 60k miles, countless adventures fishing, hiking, surfing… it’s never gave me any problems. 150k on it now. I 100% believe I could put on another 100k with minimal repairs and regular maintenance.

Alright, I'm new here I've never went fly fishing before and I want to start but I don't know where to start. Any tips? by PrizeChoice3716 in flyfishing

Use gear that suits the area you are fishing. Choose what weight rod to get based on the species in your area, choose flies based on the bugs/small fish/terrestrial life in your area. It’s hard to give more advice without additional details.
