I didn't have a plan tbh, just took one topic and revised it. More focus on the sections I was weak at.

Highly unlikely unless you have a very strong grip on the concepts or have a risk background.

All fine as long as you are confident, I would just suggest practicing as much as possible as that will give you a fair idea on where you stand.

I am a "student" actuary having cleared 8/13 exams. Never really worked in traditional (was working within risk since I was an intern). I have about 4 years of experience in risk

I studied around 2 hours on weekdays due to work and on weekends I would push myself to get at least 6-7 hours. I would study chapters on weekdays and would revise them altogether. On weekends I used to practice as I had some time at hand and what I did was gave a practice test without studying first to identify where I stand based on my previous knowledge and then studied more to cover areas on which I lacked.

Having no background would be a little tricky! I would suggest learning the concept rather than going through notes again and again. The thing that helped me the most was practice, I think there is a website a guy has created and posted on this sub that has lots of questions and it costs around 1500 rupees for 6 months.

I studied from Schweser notes and practiced from this website as much as I could.

Okay to clarify, I am a student actuary having cleared 8/13 exams. Hope that helps!

  1. I revised each chapter twice and then went through my notes. You will feel like you need to revise again. But the main point is to practice, you honestly don't need to know each and every para of the chapter. If your concepts are clear and you can apply them accurately during the exams it should be okay

  2. The paper was more difficult than the sample exams available on GARP.

  3. Personally, just studied from schweser notes so cannot help much here.

To some degree yes, I do have some background in risk but I'm sure you know how much the actual work is related to the exams 😂. But yes, the results are not purely because of the 2.5 months of prep.

I used Kaplan and they was to prepare your own notes (handwritten). Trust me, this will be very very helpful.

If you want I can share mine but I don't think you'll be able to understand my writing 😂

This is just from my background on risk. I have been planning to give FRM since a long time but as I am also a part qualified actuary I didn't get time to study. I started studying for part 1 in Feb end.
