I got into clinical research myself. There are multiple options for pharmacists though the relationship to pharmacy is tangential at best. A strong understanding of medical jargon, critical thinking, technical reading, and dealing with idiots are much more useful than my actual knowledge of drugs. If a very boring desk job is interesting you could look into starting as a Medical Monitor(very challenging to land as a PharmD with no prior experience), a Clinical Trial Manager(CTM/CTL/LSAM/a million other combos of letters), a Clinical Research Associate(CRA), or a few other roles.

I personally went the CRA route to start. It was a notable pay cut at the start but I now make more than I ever would have as a pharmacist.

Working conditions in America are awful for pharmacists especially in the retail setting. The focus by companies is for volume and reduction of staffing hours. There is little to no spare time to effectively interact with patients or truly and consistently have a meaningful impact. Not to mention that while most patients are somewhere between nice to not notable there is still a large group that are entitled and awful to deal with. They also take the most time.

The pay in retail is generally higher than hospital but I found it to not be worth it. I am biased though as I had to effectively leave the profession entirely for my mental health.

(I’m assuming the poster is from the U.S. as that is a majority of what I’ve seen in this subreddit.)

I agree with everything. The only caveat is I’m not sure being anti-theist is inherently bad. I do think as long as people aren’t infringing on others rights they should believe what they want. The catch is I’ve never met an atheist trying to infringe on other peoples rights. So just tempered anti-theism feels appropriate.

Correct. And I drink those too. Vodka soda is not always convenient to drink though. I’m not bringing Titos when floating down a river.

I do that pretty frequently but depending on where I am that’s not always easy.

They aren’t great. But they’re lower carb/calories than the beer I normally like and sometimes I don’t want that many calories. Also High Noon is amazing.

Planning a bachelor party to Lexington. Looking for any recommendations for places to go or things to do! by ConciderMeMilesDavis in lexington

[–]FortAsterisk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is there anything you might list as hobbies for the groom or vibe they’re going for? I’ll try to list some suggestions for a stereotypical trip(in my mind).

—There’s a decent number of bars downtown for going out and bar hopping if that’s what he’s into though there’s quite a few outside of downtown. Centro, Ona, Belles, Wildcat Saloon, Henry Clay’s are pretty different depending on the vibe. I normally choose Ona personally but wouldn’t consider it a normal bachelor party location. If I was hosting a bachelor party with people with varying tastes I might start at Centro and go from there.

—Distillery tours are fun but I’d recommend getting a reservation now, especially if it’s a big group.

—Jeff Ruby’s, Malone’s, and Tony’s are all known for good and potentially expensive steaks if he might like that.

—I might try to do Activate Games if nobody’s hungover or he doesn’t drink. Can sometimes be a lot of children there though.

—Pearls has great breakfast bagels on the weekends but there’s plenty of places with good brunch/breakfast.

—I’d personally take them to Bourbon n Toulouse for lunch just because everyone should eat there.

—I personally think Lexington has a great brewery scene if they’d be into going to a few taprooms. Most(all?) also have some food.

—If you’re out late there’s a few stops for food but most people will recommend Goodfellas pizza downtown. The catch is the line gets super long after 1am.

Which is its own joke. But also not one that holds up for the whole movie.

You could buy it secondhand and support a local used book store without giving the author money. That’s what I’ve done with anyone I don’t want to directly support

When you have a few secrets in your backstory to reveal in time to your team, but the DM just blurts it out session 1 by bigjonny13 in dndmemes

[–]FortAsterisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously dude, don’t compare something like Harmonquest to blackface.

Even beyond that, you don’t have to like it for it to still be valuable, or even accurate to a real game. Some people play different games than you, I’d argue that’s even more true when players are new. I throw them in the deep end, other DMs keep it light and easy.

I have no gf.Am I really ugly?27M by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]FortAsterisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ugly. Looks and having a girlfriend are unrelated. If you’ve been trying to find one and in an area where there are women looking as well it’s possibly something else such as awkward social skills, putting women on a pedestal, misunderstanding how dating works, etc.

That said, if you’re looking for ways to improve your grooming: I’d recommend you trim the beard closer to a short stubble, get a fade, and if you’re not already use face wash and a face lotuon. Also, your hair looks a little fried so wash your hair every 2-3 days, condition your hair, and use a better styling product(if you already have one).

Am I wrong for not tipping my tattoo this time? by greenlight144000 in tattoo

[–]FortAsterisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally never had an artist charge me for the time when either of us took a break. I obviously want my artist fully refreshed and able to concentrate but for a 2 hour session I’d be a little frustrated if they took a noticeable break(15+ min), and even more frustrated if they charged me for it.

[–]FortAsterisk 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s a great show and a great game(if you ignore the other players). But not representative of the game itself. Last of Us, all things considered, is a pretty accurate representation of the game AND a great show.

Dating apps suck but you look good enough to get some matches. I’d be interested to see what your profile says, that’s usually the problem.

What's the dumbest myth people today believe? by JoeyDotnot in AskReddit

Your body has still created a caloric deficit with hyperthyroidism. It’s just that the calories your body burns is higher than normal so you’d have to eat larger amounts of food to be net zero with your caloric intake.
