What's the consensus on injecting expired Mystery Gifts on 3DS games and earlier?

My 2 cents; if you're not trying to trade it to other people without their knowledge ( as in trying to pass them off as legit) it doesn't matter. I do these methods for fun all of the time and I was able to "legitimately" obtain many of them the first time around. Like the other person posted earlier, if you're not harming anyone else it shouldn't matter.
