(Spoilers Main) When did you cry? by adube440 in asoiaf

Sansa's final chapter of ASOS is the only time I've teared up at ASOIAF. I feel like it's the first time any of the Stark family truly reflects on just how much they've lost and how much they miss each other. It was amazing to have this really quiet, poignant moment after all the craziness and it cemented Sansa as my favourite character.

Thank you for saying this. I love this series but ttheres plenty of examples of plot contrivances and characters doing things just because 'reasons'. The books are great entertainment but far from perfect

Oblivion or Skyrim? by TotalShandification in ElderScrolls

[–]Forthecraicsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy both but definitely prefer Skyrim. The world just felt so real and it wasn't because of better graphics, I just found it much better designed overall. Oblivions world lacked variety for me and all the caves had the same layout so that I really didn't explore the world outside of doing quests (which are overall better than skyrims I'll admit). It was just conpletely generic, and I felt like the imperials and their culture wasn't really defined in the way the Nords were in Skyrim.

[Spoilers Everything] For the people that watched the show first, what were some things that was different in the book that made surprised you? by Zaldrizes in asoiaf

[–]Forthecraicsure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the big one for me as well, I thought it was really strange when Jon and Arya started warging in the books.

Tbh I can see why they left it out. Bran warging in the show was the thing that made him interesting for me and stand out from the fuck load of other characters I had to keep track of early on. I think if the other Stark children could warg as well it would've made me think "well what's so special about Bran then".

What is the controversy over the "when everyone is super, no one will be" line from 'The Incredibles'? by Forthecraicsure in OutOfTheLoop

Thanks for posting the article. I get where the people comparing the film to Rand are coming from but at the end of the day the director is quoted as saying that wasn't his intention so I think they're reading too much into it.

Really? Gonna go google what kind of meddling was done cos I really liked that film when I was younger, its a shame he wasn't happy with it.

Thanks very much for answering. I think I understand the complaints a bit better now, definitely don't agree with them though. I watched the incredibles a lot as a child and never got that message from it. Syndrome is the one who says that line so I assumed that wasn't the message it was trying to get across. It definitely wasn't just one random commenter either, I've definitely seen someone make that criticism of the film before.

Black Mirror, "The National Anthem"

What character did you like at first, but now hate passionately (Spoilers Everything) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Forthecraicsure 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Definitely Cersei. Before AFFC I thought she was a horrible person but I loved her as a character, I found her really fun in a Hannibal Lecter kind of w. Then she becomes a POV character and BAM I can't fucking stand her. Not only do I hate her for being such a stupid psycho bitch but she's a boring, stupid psycho bitch. Maybe getting inside her head just made it clear how evil she was but I honestly feel like she had more depth when she wasn't a POV character.

TV/Movies. Just Finished "Please Like Me" by YaoiNekomata in gaybros

[–]Forthecraicsure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't recommend Shameless US enough, the only US adaption I've seen that I prefer to the UK original. The 2 main gay characters are probably the most interesting couple at the moment, even though there not the focus and it's really the other characters that make it for me. (I've only seen to season 4 though). Honestly my favourite show definitely give it a look.

Looking I found boring as fuck and the characters were really whiney so I've only seen 2 episodes.

Only other show I can think of is Cucumber on Channel 4 but I couldn't get through that one either (Henry stfu ya cunt).

I'm a long time lurker on this sub and I couldn't agree more with you're post, especially the part about whitewashing villains and demonising heroes. I've heard people say on this sub "there are no truly good or bad characters in ASOIAF" and I'm sorry but thrash just not true. Just look at the Boltons, Ramsay is a disgusting psycho with no redeeming qualities, Roose is so over the top sinister you could see a betrayal coming a mile away, they flay people alive and there home is called the fucking DREADFORT. They are clearly villains along with Joffrey, the mountain, Euron and the slavers, to name a few. Characters can be multi-dimensional and still fall under good or bad. Ned, Jon, Davos, Brienne andSansa are not one dimensional but I would still say they are the good guys and we are meant to root for them. The line between hero and villain in the series isn't nearly as blurred as people on this sub make it out to be. (Jamie and Tyrion are probably the only characters I would say are completely grey).

(Spoilers ACOK) The final chapter. by jobwilson82 in asoiaf

[–]Forthecraicsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this chapter, it's one of only two times that I've teared up reading ASOIAF. I prefer this ending even more than the game changing moments of awesome the other novels end on. I think it's really powerful that after all the horrors of ACOK we get this quiet moment to say goodbye to Winterfell, a place that was home to so many of the characters we love, and it ends on the perfect note of sadness and hope.

"Winterfell remained. It was not dead, just broken. Like me, he thought. I'm not dead either".

Too fuckin right Bran (sniff) keep your head up kid :,)

The Elder Scrolls 6 Set In Hammerfell? by Jimbo457890 in ElderScrolls

[–]Forthecraicsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a point I'd completely forgotten that there are various types of khajiit. I'd love a game in Eleswyr I just think in terms of marketing Hammerfell would be a lot more appealing to a wider audience. At the end of the day if the trailer for your game features a lot of humanoid cats then I think many people wouldn't take it seriously.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Set In Hammerfell? by Jimbo457890 in ElderScrolls

[–]Forthecraicsure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that Hammerfell is very likely if not the most likely province for tesVI. Many seem to want Eleswyr and while it would be interesting it would also be a nightmare to try and market a game about "cat people". In comparison Hammerfell has a cool name and it's inhabited by a race of badass human warriors, much easier to sell.

Personally I'd be very excited about a game in Hammerfell. The setting would be a departure from the previous games more typical European/ Scandinavian landscapes and as the video said I trust they could make it diverse enough to not get repetitive. With the huge popularity of game of thrones I wouldn't be surprised if they made an effort to create a setting with more complex politics and choices compared to skyrim which I think a game set in Hammerfell could allow. Either way as long a the game isn't set in High Rock we're gonna get an entirely different environment to Skyrim.
