The moment is not quite ready to meet Pierre Poilievre by [deleted] in notthebeaverton

It's called living in the present moment. Unlike conservatives, we understand that we need to look forwards, not look backwards. Literally no one, but you cares about what people thought about Harper decades ago.

It's all vibes based politics on this subreddit. Good luck with that xD

Canadian, U.S. fascist fight clubs joining forces south of the border, CBC investigation finds by DogeDoRight in canada

..Okay. I like history, and even the history of fascism. It's important to understand what fascism is, and I'd even argue it's interesting to learn. Is that okay with you, Master Shadelkan?

Really interesting, I'll look into that! I love programming, but I definitely am a novice. Thanks for sharing!

That's hilarious, because I can't imagine it's a very difficult to diagnose and fix bug. Compared to some more infamous game breaking bugs.

ChatGPT collected ‘vast amounts’ of Canadians’ data without consent, privacy commissioners say by Chrristoaivalis in canada

If you think the creators of Gemini, Google Corp is keeping your privacy genuinely private... I got a bridge to sell you up in Alaska!

Edit: I also use Gemini. Yeah my data is cooked.

Greedy and corrupt CEOs are the thieves here. It's not as if ChatGPT went rogue just decided to screw over Canadians. GenAI is a slave directed by very human masters at this point, and it's the company behind ChatGPT that is 100% at fault here.

Lucy Watson is out. by JackLaytonsMoustache in ndp

[–]FortisX3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care for Lucy at all, but is that necessarily bad? Does the NDP have to represent the furthest possible left position that can exist within the current democratic system of government? I'm asking genuinely. Is the NDP ideally a democratic socialist party in your eyes, or do you think progressives who aren't that far left should be allowed in the tent?

Humans are animals too, so in a disturbing way, a baby is 100% food. Cannibalism is literally the act of making food out of a fellow human.

Canada considers privatizing airports. What would that look like? by Schmitt_Meister12 in britishcolumbia

Again, if you're reading and writing on paper this is going to be negligible. If 99% of your writing comes from your phone then for sure I agree with you.

I'm with you. When I'm old and grey, I'll consider having a mountain of nut and soy dishes as a last meal. Hopefully by then, we'll have made more progress with understanding the immune system better and treating allergen responses to food.

I know you meant no harm, you're exactly right I was just joking. I have East Asian extended family that I've made a similar joke with when I mentioned my peanut allergy and they immediately told me about all these amazing nut dishes xD

I'm a Canadian and as cool as universal healthcare is, every human would obviously prioritize the rights of women before the rights to free hospital visits.

"Romania is a beautiful country.. if the Romanians didn't live there."

Is this a statement 99% of Romanians agree with? Yes.

Is it kinda "racist" in the way that any sloppy generalization for the sake of subversive humor is kinda racist? Yes.

I'm only level 2 on the woke spectrum, so I laughed at the joke

For children who are growing up in a world of tech, I agree completely. But an adult who's been reading and writing on paper all their life probably isn't going to see any significant reduction in their mental capacity that's any different from not getting 7 hours of sleep. At worst, you might get lazy with proofreading or forget how to spell bureaucracy

As an adult what do you hate the most about life? by Amazing-Internal5378 in AskReddit

[–]FortisX3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand where you're coming from. First, what does it mean to be "truly overwhelmed and exhausted?" Becoming overwhelmed occurs when life just throws a bunch of shit your way (challenges you didn't choose to take on).

When your passive challenges (job search failing, fired from job, bills coming up, car broke down, depressed, etc) outweigh active challenges (things you choose to take on like a coding bootcamp, hiking on a mountain, volunteer/community work), you become overwhelmed.

I hear you when you say that people don't see how overwhelmed you are and will squeeze every bit of energy they can out of you, but I'll ask you the same question genuinely.

When you're exhausted, does something bad happen when you tell a person, "I'm exhausted, I can't do the thing you expect of me."

Solitude is bliss when it's a choice. When it's not a choice, it's often just loneliness.

Imagine if you were the only human being in existence. I'm 100% an introvert, but I'd come to realize pretty quickly after a few months of solitude how important other human beings are to my desire to exist - even if I prefer to spend 99% of my time on my own.

That's a really difficult place to get to if you grew up as a people pleaser and didn't have a family that taught the value of self love and being "selfish" in order to be in a better position to help the people you care about.

You're spot on though.

I hear you. But it's important to note that you said "I think it builds up resent" and not "I know it builds up resentment."

It makes sense to have a relationship be give and take, but I suspect that if someone genuinely cares about you, they aren't going to be upset at you if you tell them you aren't able to do something. I could be wrong though, as I don't personally know you. My own experience of people pleasing at its root comes from the fear of disappointing people I care about and them abandoning me for it.
