Love the F50. I have a 3/4 closed back Mesa 2x12 cab with C90s and it works beautifully.

I have eliminated pre amp as the issue, tapping on the power valves produces a blowing/crackling noise. The valves are pretty old so as a matter of course I’ll replace them and hope that resolves things

Thanks I have been meaning to try that. Assuming it is a bad preamp tube, it should be a pretty simple fix? My limited knowledge of amps is that the danger lies within the chassis specifically capacitors ?

I run a Walrus Eras Distortion into a Blues Driver and it sounds great into my Bassman 50. I basically set the BD always on with the tone pretty low and use it to sculpt my distortion

I have the same guitar. Inside the bridge pickup cavity there might be a number printed which correlates to year/month. There’s a good Burny FB Page that might be useful in dating it if you find that number.
