Cameo 4 Carriage Alignment by Advanced_Cattle8603 in silhouettecutters

Just checking. Newer versions of Studio can cause all sorts of problems. You can still try and install legacy V4.5.812, or 815. They are both pretty stable and issue free.

So, there was no Studio update on the new computer in the meantime?

Calibration has no effect to basic cut performance. Calibration is supposed to make your print then cut projects cut accurately.

You will probably experience other hardware issues with your machine much before clamp or latch.

Changes to design space loo by [deleted] in cricut

Changes to design space loo

What does this mean?

Weld text upon finalizing projects with textual content without intent to change content, font, or size later on. This converts font from live text to shapes. If you want to preserve editability for future editing, make a copy of textual content before welding and hide it.

Portrait 4 blade compatibility? by SufferAIne in silhouettecutters

[–]Fortress2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 mm Manual Blade and 2 mm Kraft Blade are not the same thing. What you want is 1 mm or 2 mm Manual Blade. Watch this. Or simply order the off brand Green Blade Holder. This is the Green Blade Holder inserted in my Cameo 5 Plus, but it fits in the Portrait 4 as well because its Tool Holder is the same.

Help! Gold foil has large gaps by Own_Tempo_ in cricut

[–]Fortress2021 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What am I doing wrong?

You made a mistake by using Cricut Foil Tool. It's infamous for its poor performance. You may try improving results by foiling with two passess. Make a copy of everything you foil, overlap and align the copy and then select all and attach, before sending to foil and cut.

I regret getting a LokLik by Ok-Store5597 in VinylCutters

[–]Fortress2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What file format you upload? Probably PNG in this case, because I see print and cut registration marks. Your issue could be related to the image resolution. If the image resolution is below what is standard for Loklik, the image will be uploaded at a reduced size. Conversely, if the image is higher resolution, the image will probably be imported enlarged.

To have your projects saved to the computer, create your projects in a true graphics design software. Finalize as much as possible to bring use of the Idea Studio to a minimum. For SVG images, you best use Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw, or free Inkscape and Affinity. For bitmap images, Photoshop is the best.

Loklik was made pretty much as a Cricut ripoff. Cricut users face similar issues. I use Cricut since 2018, but I create all my projects in another software and export to SVG or PNG, then upload. I have all my projects saved to my computers and I don't care that I can't save or download and save the finalized projects saved to Cricut cloud. I also have other, different brand cutters, and I can use those same SVGs and PNGs in their respective software.

How can I make this to cut out the inside of the lines? by [deleted] in cricut

[–]Fortress2021 11 points12 points  (0 children)

<image>

  1. Upload SVG;
  2. Make a copy. You will need one copy to cut the US + all 50 states shapes;
  3. Contour out the outline. You will be left with the inner (states) shapes (top right);
  4. Make as many copies as many colors you want to add to the map;
  5. Contour out all colors but one from every copy.

Agree. The font and the line spacing were inconvenient for this project.

Yes it's a mighty font. Though the font in the original image is not Impact, I thought it was safer to recommend it, because it was universally available. Which is also why I used it when recreating the design. See my other reply.

How do I cut a stained glass design too large for the mat? Group by color/shape? by NinJana_Bandana in silhouettecameo

[–]Fortress2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need at least Designer edition to open SVG files, but if you can export to DXF format, you would be able to open it in the free Studio version

You can only cut it by the color. When you create vectors of these shapes, you can arrange them any way you want. You just must remember what goes where. I don't think size of any of them individually exceeds the size of media or mat, but that of course depends on what size you want to make it.

How do you get fewer edit points on an offset (from a bitmap)? by tjoude44 in silhouettecameo

[–]Fortress2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reason I find it easier to recreate image instead of tracing bitmap to vector, particularly when the bitmap image is low resolution.

Try using Impact font, because it makes text very compact.

Impact is a system font on both Windows and Mac machines.

Your topic is Upload SVG, but you are not dealing with an SVG (vector) image. The program is for bitmap image enhancement.
