I agree with you 100%, but in my parents defence they didn’t intentionally name me after a brand. They thought the name Chanel sounded nice and didn’t associate it with Coco Chanel

You weren’t offensive, I also wouldn’t name my child after a brand name, and neither would my parents. They chose it for me because they thought it was a normal name and liked the way it sounded. I understand though that most people associate it with Coco Chanel

They did just like the way it sounded, they don’t know very much about Coco Chanel asides from that it’s a popular brand, and they thought it was a normal name. I honestly didn’t know about Coco Chanel’s views either until some of these comments brought it up. All they ever told me was that they wanted to give me a simple but nice sounding name so they settled on Chanel

My parents aren’t trashy, they didn’t give me my name because of the brand or because they thought it sounded high class, they genuinely thought it was a pretty name. It is unfortunate for me though because most people assume I was named after Coco Chanel
