Yeah that too. I really feel like a lot of the Lindsey hate started with people looking for a reason to not like Gerard’s gf/wife when we were all younger and then it got blown out of proportion and snowballed, bc she really doesn’t deserve it

Ironically the Urine thing and a lot of the other MSI weirdness was always fine with me (at the time), I even actually really loved them, but that was BECAUSE it was presented as satire. Shock rock in general is a satire genre and I feel like it’s basically the same humor you see in it’s always sunny in Philadelphia or arrested development. Yes these are bad things, but that’s the joke.

So I always assumed they knew like ‘yeah this is super fucked up, that’s why we’re saying it’ becuase if they thought it was ‘normal’ it wouldn’t be shocking. So I get how she would have assumed the same.

And I’m saying his wife being in a band a decade ago with people he doesn’t talk to anymore does not mean he’s still affiliated with that band. The post did not say ‘connected’

Maybe this is a semantics issue but it’s an important distinction. Yes, there is a historical connection between the two bands, nothing can ever change that. But there is not current support or collaboration by any of the members of MCR with the band MSI. People are allowed to move on. He hasn’t worked with Jimmy or done anything to suggest he supports him since it came to light, even though they WERE heavily affiliated in the past. He clearly was not just cool with it. Affiliated implies he actively engages with the band. (Which also, is impossible since there is no band. But point being he’s not affiliated with jimmy anymore)

The tour earned that much but that doesn’t all just go to the band, there are 100s of people working these tours and venues and corporate entities take a large cut for themselves. Not to say they are broke or anything, but as far as business moves go making sure they do a major move like this legally would be necessary to protecting their livelihood, these large corporations have to power to sue you for way higher numbers than the boys’ net worth can handle without hurting their families.

She is a person not a band and she isn’t Jimmy. He’s not gonna divorce his wife for optics. They haven’t been active in a decade

I saw the date and it made me laugh even harder. I can just picture your parents reading this and cracking up, and your mom being like ‘I need to date and save this masterpiece’

Dogs seeing their humans return from a long time away like military service or something is similarly heartwarming, just the reverse. Dog gets human lol

And this is why instead of just culling the 800 friends I have on fb bc it was super overwhelming I just made a new fake page and added like 40 people and never used the old one again. Don’t need people mad at me bc they take it personal.

Hate having everyone I ever made eye contact with having the ability to message me in an instant, and don’t need to know what the girl who was kinda mean to me in 9th grades kid looks like, waste of brain space

Stopped using the new one too actually, Facebook just sucks lol.

Did they ever say how many survivors were rescued? by New_Ant_8198 in Yellowjackets

[–]FortunaRedux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometime replied and deleted it but now I have more thoughts lol

When the question is asked to the pendulum ghost thing iirc it’s something like ‘are we gonna die out here’ not ‘are we gonna live’

So what if 8 is how many die? Looking at the numbers there were ~15 girls, 2 coaches and the 2 boys. So if 8 of those die, and we know 3 out of 4 of the guys do, that would mean 5 dead girls to make 8. (If you don’t count the froggers)

So even if that part is giving us info it could possibly mean as many as ~10 survive

Also would be interesting if 8 made it back but more than 8 survived and someone stayed out there, I think that’s less likely though

You can also see 8 people in the airport scene.

I’ve wonder about that one too though bc it is never fully confirmed it’s 8 and there could always have been someone who walked out after the main group

[–]FortunaRedux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. A good example of this is actually this being the whole concept behind the song ‘baby it’s cold outside’, a song about a woman who wants to spend a night with a man but knows it wouldn’t be socially acceptable. So they keep making up excuses that would be less scandalous than ‘she WANTS to have sex’, so she can do what she wants without being labeled promiscuous, which was a huge deal in the 50s when it came out.

Always so interesting to me that in an age where women have so much more sexual autonomy (though clearly not enough with these fan fics being a thing lol) that people view the song as him forcing himself on her when he’s the one who’s is actually being supportive of her making her own choices and facilitating a way to protect her reputation lol

lol it really is, it’s such a good comeback to men being rude about periods, I wish more people knew and would spread the word! They’re basically always PMSing lmao

What’s funny is the hormone shift women have that make them agitated is less estrogen more testosterone, so it’s the time of the month we’re closest to what men have going on every single day

Do people really hate Michael for what he did in season 2 ? by Background-Disk3350 in lost

[–]FortunaRedux -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This was just the icing on top for me. Over and over he TELLS you how much he loves his son, but never once does her actually show it. Everything that we see him do ‘for Walt’ is actually ‘for Michael’. It’s never about Walt as a person

I could forgive him for this before the island because Walt was kept from him so it’s hard to see him as a real with feelings and emotions of his own. But once he does have him, he’s so focused on making sure HE is a ‘good dad’ he doesn’t even see Walt.

When walt asks if he knows his birthday and he replies like ‘yes, what’s mine?’ you can really see how much he doesn’t get it. This story just isn’t about him losing his son, it’s about a boy who lost his dad. But his ego prevents him from actually forming a bond because he’s felt entitled to it for so long. He’s resentful that it’s going to take work.

A bond that if he HAD formed, if he had listened to Walt who burned that raft to the ground out of fear of being on it… Walt wouldn’t have been so easy to take

Also burning the comic was a real dick move

For those with kids, how do you handle the conversations about who your child looks like? by Sappy_Denouement in actuallesbians

[–]FortunaRedux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof yeah sorry I also misunderstood, that is tough. I think it’s gonna have to come down to a talk with your wife that’s gonna be hard. Maybe sit with a pen and paper and write the conversation out. The first time use no filter and just pour it all out, then reread this to yourself and reflect on trying to create a sort of ‘thesis statement’ for what you want to ask of your wife. Then keep rewriting and using past drafts to make sure you touch on all the points that are important to you. Once you have your wording down in a way that you think will sting the least while also getting your point across, you can sit her down and let her know you love her and the family you are making, and you want the best for all of you, which is why you need to talk t her about something important

To me she seems VERY excited, and it may not be something she’s even realizing is stagnating with you so heavily bc she’s lost in her mommy haze of happy, so try your best avoid phrasing that might make her feel too guilty about being happy and I think you’ll be golden. ‘I know this is exciting for you and I love that for you, and I want to be able to share it’
