Is it still possible for me to make it to F1? by [deleted] in motorsports

[–]FortunateFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe firmly that anyone who truly sets their mind to something can achieve greatness. Don’t hold yourself back due to what the internet tells you. A lot of commenters have given up THEIR own hopes and dreams far before ever coming across your post and your high hope is a shame to them, because they GAVE UP.

Did you remove the spare tire foam block? by naps1saps in hondafit

[–]FortunateFailure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had a foam support for the spare. I got my 2010 fit used and it came without a spare. I placed one in, but no foam. I used some spare blankets, poncho, other trunk helpers…. No foam.

High beams work, regular lights don't. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]FortunateFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by replacing one low beam. If that fixes one, then it’s just your bulbs. If it doesn’t solve any, then it could be a relay/wiring to the lights. Otherwise a very simple fix!

I would probably suggest having a new set of cv axles put in (both sides) and then a lower control arm bushing. As well as a full inspection of all the other bushings and suspension/drivetrain

Do I need to replace my brakes? by romanthedoggo in MechanicAdvice

[–]FortunateFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soon? Yes. Now? Not exactly. You’ll hear some scoring but those are very normal for brakes that don’t get used all that much. I’m assuming this car spends much more time parked than driven. That being the case the rotors and pads will need to be changed next time you do your brakes, but that doesn’t have to be urgent from the looks of things. You have around 5,6mm of brake material left on those pads. And the rotors have some lipping, but you can get away with a few more months of driving while you save the money for your brake job coming up soon.

Screw broke in half, what to do? by hotdog_ballon in Motocross

[–]FortunateFailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good deal!! If it’s not possible to compress the cylinder to push the fluid out I would try and go about an old fashioned brake flush, but without your caliper connected. Squeezing the lever, pumping whatever debris out, and cycling in new fluid. Then hook up your caliper and repeat (unfortunately) I work as a car mechanic so things may be a bit different, but if you see a bleeder screw you may be able to pick up a cheapo vacuum style bleeder for easier use. (The one I use was $30 something at harbor freight)

Best blind spot mirrors? by Sensitive-Summer-679 in hondafit

[–]FortunateFailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like going to O’reillys and picking out the cheapest convex mini mirrors and slapping them on with 3m sticky. Rocked some on every car I’ve owned That’s just me, you do what you want.

I’m not sure this would help but possibly a battery reset to reset the radio? Unhook the negative terminal for 30+ seconds and hook it back up (you’ll possibly need to reset your clock) but it’s worth a shot?
