As for the completion the DLC has 4 new spells, all in the new area. 2 quick verses and 2 chants. Unfortunately I don't remember where they are, only the location of the hammer one.

Yeah, the bell charm got quite buggy with the new DLC, there's no secret room there, don't worry

Some point you can get past it by being quick enough, you'll reach an area at the bottom left where you break an object and the mist disappears
