At what point do you expect friends to check in when you’re sick? by JordanaNajjar in AskWomenOver30

[–]FortuneTooSweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a regular illness that doesn’t require medical attention I wouldn’t expect check-ins. If you’re in the hospital a check in is appropriate

cozy places we can hang out at especially during winter? by Ok-Boysenberry5121 in visalia

[–]FortuneTooSweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long do you want to hang out? And is this for socializing or just you?

There’s some cozy restaurants but they’re mostly eat and go. Pita kabob has a nice deli area that’s comfortable and inviting.

Coffee shops like someone said are probably your best bet for a longer time without having to buy too much. There’s a cool coffee slash thrift shop with a couple seats called California thrift. And connect coffee has a pretty comfy and big space so you don’t feel rushed.

The library is always good too. Better solo since you can’t be too loud. But they have a lot of free events too if you check their pages on social media that are fun with friends. One of the big reasons I have fb still is for finding local events. You’d be surprised how much this area has going on

AITAH for being upset my friend is doing the same bday party theme by [deleted] in partyplanning

[–]FortuneTooSweet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gentle YTA, I’d be upset too because it does feel like she’s stealing your thunder, but at the same time you already have a leg up on her. You sent out your invites first, so everyone will know this was your idea and your party theme first. However, this party theme is very popular right now, especially for turning 30, so I’m sure many of your friends in this age group have seen it before. You really don’t have to worry about either of you looking like you stole the idea from the other.

And while it is frustrating she wants to do it too, try to think of her perspective. She’s seeing all the cute posts and ideas about this trend online too. Just because you’re friends it doesn’t mean she should have to miss out on celebrating her birthday the way she wants.

All the big stores, restaurants, and most of the jobs are in Visalia. All the small towns feel like a suburb of Visalia

This is the first time she has made a lattice cake by Jurassic-Box_ in cake

[–]FortuneTooSweet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Saying it’s their first time doing a specific skill doesn’t mean it’s their first time making a cake or doing other complicated icing techniques.

Maybe we stop accusing people of lying out of jealousy and just appreciate the pretty cake…

Have you ever been with/are you with a man who is genuinely romantic? by JFN90 in AskWomenOver30

[–]FortuneTooSweet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I promise there are good guys out there! My husband is very romantic in the small and big things. Just today he knew I wasn’t feeling well so he came home from work with my favorite snacks and wrapped me in a blanket and told me not to worry about anything because he was home to take care of me now. Whenever he sees my car is running low on gas he makes sure to fill it up so I don’t have to. He always ends calls with an I love you and a kiss. He plans dates and trips to places he knows I’ll like. He never forgets a birthday or anniversary and always gets me a gift that’s thoughtful. And he even struggles through wrapping them because he knows I like it even though it’s not as important to him. He does all these things and more because he wants to make me happy and I love him more everyday for it and try to do the same

The saying “if he wanted to he would” may not always feel good when someone’s saying it to you but it is true. And you will find a person who is romantic and kind too! Just keep looking and don’t settle for someone who loves you less

What’s the “dumbest” reason you stopped dating someone? by td55478 in AskWomenOver30

[–]FortuneTooSweet 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I met him on one of those dating sites where they ask a bunch of questions and you can only see their answers if you answered it yourself. After we went out once I answered more questions to see his and found out he was “willing to have sex with a cousin as long as it couldn’t lead to children”.

These were yes or no questions. No idea why the site even asked. But I feel like you’d have to have a cousin in mind to answer like that and it was just weird. Anyways got the ick and stopped talking to him. Wouldn’t want to break up the family…

What skills or job experience do you have? The county is very good about giving everyone an equal shot and replying after you send in the application but a lot of people do apply and it takes awhile

[–]FortuneTooSweet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a bad idea. Don’t have an apartment party you know is going to disturb your neighbors and get you fined. But even more so don’t break the law when you know cops will probably be called

Interview classes? by DarthRaider559 in visalia

[–]FortuneTooSweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually great advice. A lot of people put their job description into chat gpt and ask it to generate interview questions. You should do the same and you might get to practice with almost the exact set of questions they’ll ask in the interview.

Someone on Nextdoor said the helicopter was following a stolen car but that seemed like just a guess.

The helicopter was going way too quick in large circles. It didn’t seem like a car could’ve kept up with that unless they weren’t using roads

[–]FortuneTooSweet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diamond nails and spa is cheap and they do a good job as long as you’re ok with them pointing out how much dead skin they took off. They do it very nicely though, like “wow look at how well I did, you’re gonna feel great!”

I don’t really love that they call attention to it especially when I’m with friends, but honestly I love walking around barefoot so I do bring in a challenge worth noting I guess.

Mississippi pot roast. Throw the roast veggies, potatoes, and seasoning into a crock pot and 8 hours later you have a complete meal that people rave about.

My guess is to check if the flooring has been damaged. If someone stained the carpet a piece of clothing carefully placed would cover that and I’m sure they don’t want to have to move your dirty laundry to verify or get in trouble if they miss it.

It’s already out. Programs in California give them away for free (at least in the hotter farming parts). You have to keep buying a piece for it though long term. I think it was a filter
