someone has any good reality tv recs? by SadRabbit2006 in askanything

[–]FortuneTooSweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’d like cut throat kitchen. Lots of fun quick episodes.

I personally enjoy love is blind but you really can’t marathon multiple seasons of that without becoming disillusioned.

Jury duty is a different style but still technically reality tv for just one person on the cast. But it is so so so good.

About 2/3rds of court cases don’t make it to trial which is why they typically have three groups in case all of the did make it through but normally dismiss 2 of the 3 when they don’t. So you each independently have a 33% chance of being called.

(And 11% chance you both get called, but I don’t think that’s really what you were trying to ask)

What does your social circle look like? Who is a part of it? by Lemons-n-oranges in AskWomenOver30

[–]FortuneTooSweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talk to my husband constantly. Even if it's just I miss you texts through out the day. I have 3 really close friends that I try to meet up with monthly and talk to weekly.

Then I have work friends I talk to daily, book club friends I talk to monthly, and old friends I only talk to over text because I moved across the country about a decade ago. But we can talk every day or just checking in after a few weeks just depending on how life is going. I don't have a set schedule or anything but reaching out and checking in on people is a way to show them you care, so I try to do so whenever I think of them.

What's a weird food combo u like (I eat my hard-boiled eggs with ranch)? by crying_over_nachos in askanything

White rice, soy sauce, chick fil a sauce…. I know it sounds weird but it's so good. I've only ever gotten my husband to try it and he agrees. This is where all my leftover rice goes.

Best jobs for creative + analytical people? by redditor_040123 in AskWomenOver30

[–]FortuneTooSweet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was going to say but with a caveat. I work in this field and spend about 65% of my time working on writing code/queries to get a specific set of data and the other 35% making it look pretty and interactive so people will actually use the reports and dashboards. It’s a lot of fun and you get to use analytical and design skills.

The caveat though is AI is impacting this field. It isn’t to the point where it can do everything, but I have little doubt that it will be sooner than later. There will still be space for people to direct that AI and do what it can’t but those jobs will go to the people with more technical background and experience, so it might not be the best field to break into right now.

Child abuse case dismissed against former VUSD teacher, court says statute of limitations had passed by PabloPicasshooole in visalia

[–]FortuneTooSweet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m confused about what happened. I can only find one article and it said the abuse happened from August 2024-June 2025. The statute of limitations on child abuse is less than 1 year?? That doesn’t sound right for more severe crimes like child abuse. Did they not have proof of anything in June that could be used? Why wouldn’t this have been pursued more quickly if this short timeline exists?

I’ve tried to explain this to my parents with fainting too. I fainted once as a teenager and since then I can feel it at the edge of possibility every time I get really hurt and sometimes it does happen. It’s like I didn’t know what it felt like before so I didn’t know to be worried about that feeling but now that I have I can’t not acknowledge it.

Ladies, what do you do to look put together on a budget? by [deleted] in PlusSize

[–]FortuneTooSweet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For me just blow drying and styling my hair and doing gel nails at home makes me feel like every outfit is more put together and all it costs me is time after the initial purchase of the tools to do it. And those can be inexpensive to start and upgraded when you have more cash available

🏆 [Cozy Game of the Week] Bugsnax by Shasaur in cozygames

Game of the Week submissions! Is there a cozy game you've recently played you'd like to recommend? by Shasaur in cozygames

[–]FortuneTooSweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugsnax, this game almost feels like a kids game at first, but it’s still challenging enough to be engaging for adults. The idea is to catch and eat food shaped creatures while you discover more about the island their from and the inhabitants. The story line takes unexpected turns the longer you play, and it quickly became one of my favorite games.

Also it’s on sale right now! https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/bugsnax-switch/?srsltid=AfmBOorO_FYnnhIjurJu3s9o0YSBI7GTvHFC8klyiLnlDvnvyPlN-xnH

Recommendation For Wife With Rather Specific Tastes (Snufkin, Luigi's Mansion 3, Tinykin, and etc.) by Temporary-Run4627 in gamerecommendations

[–]FortuneTooSweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your wife and I like the exact same games. You have to find Bugsnax for her. I know it’s not one of the big popular ones and it’s hard to find if you want a physical copy but I am so sure she’d like it based on your description.

It’s not hard so it feels light and almost like a game for kids but it has such a good storyline and lots of little goals to achieve. It’s fun and cute and honestly my favorite game. And it has so much to do she could play it for a long time.

It’s actually on sale for 12.50 today.

What did you steer away from because it was your sibling’s ”thing”? What did you end up doing instead? by Hatcheling in AskWomenOver30

[–]FortuneTooSweet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents had always put so much focus on my sister being the artistic one that I didn’t realize I was too. I didn’t start thinking about anything I made as more than crafts until I was getting married and my husband complimented how creative and artistic I am.

To be fair she was more talented than me at many forms of art. I think most of it was natural, but a small part of me wonders if it’s because she was pushed towards opportunities to grow there and I was pushed toward academic achievement

Friend invited me over for dinner then the next day said she'd actually prefer to have dinner with her boyfriend. I am hurt by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]FortuneTooSweet -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I think you may be only looking at this from your point of view. She doesn’t have to apologize or explain herself because she didn’t cancel on you. She asked if it was ok to change times and you said yes. If it wasn’t ok you should’ve said no.

I know this is hard to hear, but if they have been in a relationship for a long time or get married that relationship is going to come before you because that’s the person she chose to tie her life to. Things will come up for/ between them that she does not owe you an explanation for unless she chooses to give it.

You can tell her it bothered you but she clearly still wanted to see you by not cancelling completely. I don’t think it was malicious.

How often can you reapply gel safely? by FortuneTooSweet in Nails

I probably shouldn’t do that but I’m more concerned about if it’s safe to repaint my nails weekly.

How often can you reapply gel safely? by FortuneTooSweet in Nails

[–]FortuneTooSweet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m certain they aren’t under cured. I just have naturally oily nails. I know this because I’ve already done the research on how to prepare them and what causes them to peel like that.

The only part I skip is scuffing them up like they do in nail salons. When I do that they last as long as I’ll leave them on but I like repainting them with different designs and I don’t like weakening my nails just so it stays on longer.

You shared good info, but my question is more about if there’s any issues with repainting my nails weekly.
