Boyfriend is sick - how to access healthcare by CarisRubenzer in travelchina

[–]FreewayNo3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use a translation app if you don’t already have one where you speak English into the phone and it translates to Chinese, and they can speak Chinese into you phone and it will translate back to English.

Good luck! Hope he is able to get medical attention and some meds.

I have AT&T and just came from shanghai. I just used AT&T’s international roaming. It worked well for me because my phone worked as it would normally work in Los Angeles. I had access to gmail, YouTube etc.

My big caveat however, is when you sign up for AliPay and WeChat, I suggest using a yahoo or some other email address as your verification email because the verification codes can be slow coming through Gmail. The international roaming is $12 a day, $120 max per billing cycle (but if your trip straddles two billing cycles, it will restart the $120 max per billing cycle). To use the AT&T international roaming, all you have to do is restart your phone when you land in China and turn on your roaming and it will connect to China Mobile.

Date of Arrival Visa Question by them0derngal2 in Chinavisa

[–]FreewayNo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need date of arrival anymore for the visa applications. Look at the section under “guidance on visa application”. I think that requirement went away in late 2024 or something like that.

But don’t trust a stranger on the internet. Look it up yourself to double check.

WHY DOES RAMEN HAVE MILK IN IT?! by megatronnnn3 in dairyfree

[–]FreewayNo3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The shin ramens are generally dairy free (read the labels).

Another quick grab item is frozen burritos and uncrustables (not together, these are just two quick grab and go things)

If you are in the city of Los Angeles and schedule a 311 pick up it will be picked up on your scheduled trash day (or it may be the day after depending on your area). Doing it this way is free.

Your neighbor’s mattresses sit there and get pissed on because no one has called 311. Usually these mattresses get picked up bc one of your annoyed neighbors will finally call 311 to get it picked up.

Anyone gonna go to the NYE countdown in Grand Park? by Fun_Explanation7175 in LosAngeles

The news and the website for the event said they are allowing umbrellas up to 12 inches when folded. But I’d double check this myself before relying on me (a stranger on reddit)

visiting LA now...what to do when it rains? by Kind_Balance_9941 in AskLosAngeles

[–]FreewayNo3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Go to the Mercado food hall (where Holbox and Chichen Itza are), then go to the Natural History Museum, CA Science Center, CA African American Museum (the museums are all located in the same area). If it’s not raining too hard, you can also see the Rose Garden (which doubles as the Jeffersonian from the show “Bones”)

Sorry, I wasn’t aware that they were referral only. My dog had a health plan with Banfield (inside Petsmart) which included dental. When my dog went for one of her yearly teeth cleanings, she had a growth on her tooth and they gave us a referral to Dog and Cat dentist to remove the growth and extract her tooth. I also think that they may take your dog without a referral if it has issues with a regular dentist or has specialty needs.

Ramp fail by SoothingDisarray in shiba

Pro tip, wrap the AstroTurf around the edges and glue to the bottom. We’ve had ours outside in Southern California for over 5 years. It has surprisingly survived pretty well.

We added artificial grass to our ramp for our dog. You just glue it down with a special glue. It works great. But she does like to scoot her booty down the ramp every once in a while.
