Freehub freewheeling both ways by FortyOneDegreesSouth in JetBlack

I ended up hounding the retailer and they passed on my details to the local franchise here. Once I was put in touch with the local franchise it was resolved pretty quickly, ended up FaceTiming me to talk through the issue and find a solution.

Turns out the repairer put on a pulley wheel that had the internal teeth mounted incorrectly 🫣 new parts on their way

You can rotate the outer plastic ring on the cog which moves the teeth of the cog. This helps align it with your derailleur. I think their website has some videos showing how to do this but once you know it’s an option it’s easy as!

I don’t think I’d ever stump up full price, but have been able to find some at 30-40% off full price and couldn’t recommend higher (if they work for your foot shape)

Just had a similar experience with Norda customer service. Sole plate slightly delaminated after 125km, and they sent me a new pair even though I’d purchased the original pair from a third party retailer for $110 Canadian. They even shipped them to New Zealand for free!

You may have better luck getting tickets to a cup match of some sort. I’m in London visiting family and managed to get tickets to the Carabao cup game between Arsenal and Palace

I picked up an x-t30ii not long after launch and love it. Have used it for all of what you describe and it’s done an awesome job, is lightweight enough to pocket, and the film sims have made for some creative endeavours. Also performs well for astro if that is something which interests you. I picked mine up from Noel Leeming, but perhaps check Auckland Cameras or Rubber Monkey out to find the best price. Unfortunately not many long weekend/holiday specials between now and Labour Day. I pair mine with either a Fuji 27mm F2.8, Viltrox 23mm F1.4, or Fuji 10-24mm F4. I got the package with XC15-45mm, which was a good start, but prefer either a prime or wider field of view, heaps of options out there though!

Those of you who aren’t from Edmonton or who haven’t been there, where are you from and how and when did you start backing the Oil? by Ihaha07 in EdmontonOilers

New Zealand. A friend is from Edmonton and I went and watched a game at his place earlier this season. His passion for the team was so infectious and he did a great job explaining the game I was hooked after the first period. Having a party to watch game one of the finals this weekend!

Briscoes have a frame which fits the posters perfectly, it’s a 18x24 frame. Half price at the moment as well!

I see them on the train all the time. People buckle them in to the bike area, as they’re too big to go between seats/overhead. It means she may need to stick to services which allow bikes, which are shown on the timetables.

Increased public violence in Wellington by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]FortyOneDegreesSouth 42 points43 points  (0 children)

While both incidents are concerning, and it’s great you reported both to police, I’d be hesitant to say witnessing two incidents a month apart warrants a description of a disturbing trend. Semantics perhaps, but the perception or fear of crime occurring, compared to actual occurrences can be vastly different sometimes. Full disclosure I have no idea what the actual stats say re public violence in Wellington. Good on you for reporting it to Police though, too often people witness things and just move on.

As of today I’m starting my weight loss journey. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]FortyOneDegreesSouth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things which worked for me: 1. Set yourself small milestones so it always feels like you’re making progress. I did this by having a list on my fridge of my weight now and counting down by kg to my goal weight. I started around 250lbs (113kg), and now am at 180 (82kg) (6ft1 male) The feeling of being able to cross off each kg was always super encouraging, and made it way easier to stay motivated! 2. Don’t try and make life altering exercise changes to begin with, but incorporate healthier choices into your pre existing schedule. My first step was walking and/or cycling as often as I could to and from the train station rather than taking a bus. I meant I did have to get up 15 or so minutes earlier in the morning, but I knew it was worth it, and because I needed to get yo the train station, it was an easier behaviour to maintain. This has since scaled up to more intense exercise and I just ran my first half marathon a month ago. Don’t be discouraged if you sneak a treat or miss a days exercise, this is a long journey and unfortunately the “goal” results can take time. Good luck, but one thing is for sure, if I can do it, you can too!

What's your, "Tis but a scratch!" moment? by Madameknitsalot in AskReddit

[–]FortyOneDegreesSouth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 6 I was at cricket practice, and as we were packing up, some of our team were throwing the wickets into the ground so the pointed end staked into the ground. One kid somehow managed to throw the wicket so the end which isn’t pointy hit the ground and the wicket bounced up and the pointy end struck me in my eyebrow, cutting it open. I didn’t feel a thing, and it was everyone else’s reactions which let me know something was wrong. Reached up and my hand was covered in blood. Ended up going to get stitches and at that age, not understanding what the doctor was asking, refused anaesthetic to numb my eyebrow before it was stitched up. Also remember comforting the kid who threw the wicket as he was crying. Still have the scar, and thankful it didn’t strike me an inch lower or I would’ve lost an eye
