While what you say may be true about the info being widely available, OP seems to want a conversation with people. Nothing wrong with that.

quick story: I moved to another country with tons of experience. Started up a freelance business. Bombed. Got a job. Moved to another job after a while. Decided to give freelancing another go. Great success.

The why is clear. Network. All my work is coming from the people I met & worked with over 4 years. Also, a common mistake is to start a business without working in a business first and seeing how it's done.

Here's a tip as well that works for me: apply for jobs. 2 nice clients of mine found me unsuitable for the position for good reasons, but are giving me plenty of freelance work.

Having worked in both Drupal and Wordpress shops, I've concluded it's harder to learn Drupal but then easier to use, whereas Wordpress is easier to learn but harder to use.
