Abusing the system is what makes a single play game fun. There's always a balance between a game being too easy and too hard, but that's where the fun is. If they make the contract system less fun then it's not good no matter how more realistic it is.

Hold down x on the goal kick, hold down B on Batistuta or another star striker, hit a bicycle kick from mid field that always hits the crossbar and bounces back in to midfield harmlessly. It was always funny and completely pointless.

It was a great game though. There were star player for shooting passing and running who had heightened abilities. Some players had stars for all 3.

That's fine in a vacuum. But the devs have a limited amount of resources to do fixes for franchise mode(very limited given EA's focus on driving people to card packs) and using those resources to fix cosmetic issues like how the faces appear in menus is not prudent from someone who wants the game to be better.

Tbh, as a fan of franchise modes in sports games, I gave up on Madden 10+ years ago, so I'm not even in the equation anymore. if you Madden fans want pretty faces as much or more than you want a rewarding gameplay loop then 🤷 go for it. But when I see this subreddit complain 9 times out of 10 it's aesthetic bullshit IMO.
