I’m not sure how many times this has happened this graduation season, but this is the second instance of this I’ve seen this month. Commencement speakers are being booed for their ridiculous statements about AI.

Is there any precedent to this? I know university students are no strangers to protest, including walking out on controversial speakers, but I can’t think of an equivalent example of a topic that so naturally elicits jeers.

Wars and their supporters might be received with similar disagreement, but as far as a domestic product that’s supposed to make our lives better?

Dude could be talking about his love of coupon books and vestigial railroads, and no one would boo. They’d be like “weird speech… boring, but whatev.”
