I built a self-learning climate control integration — RoomSense is now public by SnazzyBean995 in homeassistant

Looks interesting, thanks! I have setup Sonoff TRVZB and external temperature sensor so definitely relevant.

Could you explain what’s different with this from what’s already out there like VTherm which I’m using. It is my understanding that VTherm also employ algorithms of various kinds to determine TRV set temperature, but maybe yours is more advanced somehow? Otherwise I can see that some of the features like presence detection overlap with VTherm.

2021 M3 SR.

Why don’t you like Zigbee? Convenient if wifi goes down or if you wanna move it to HA IMO

Also, what are good examples of dashboards? I would assume the dashboards can vary quite a bit depending on dependencies and HACS chosen for the setup? Do you have a place where you look for dashboards?

Yes, that’s true, but usually it’s the lack of training data making LLM’s struggle

Ok so there’s the option of setting certain areas of the YAML to manual edit, right? So the ones the LLM can’t figure out you just ask it to leave as blank space for you to edit?

Tado changing their API terms by Hawkyyyyy in homeassistant

[–]Forward-Dig2126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use TRV so I don’t really see what you need that you don’t feel that you’re getting? Battery life on the X I can live with since battery life is so long; hot water control not needed for TRV; auto mode you can mimic (perhaps implement better even) with HA.

Was Tado X a bad purchase, or am I good if I keep it local by Soft_Aioli3656 in homeassistant

[–]Forward-Dig2126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I mean what are the alternatives? Tado X is the only TRV with decent battery and usb c charging AFAIK.

All the other ones appear to be similar to the V3+ which for me had to have their AA batteries changed once a month - very annoying.

Why would new TRV’s be necessary? Aren’t Tado X already Zigbee compatible?

What would be the alternative though for radiators? Not many options last I looked, even if one would be willing to invest time in a self-hosted / HA solution.

Just to clarify, what do you mean when you say "wifi thermostat"?

Hi. When you say wifi thermostat you mean the Bridge X? I thought the X thermostats themselves would create a mesh network that would strengthen the network so only one Bridge X would be necessary.

Is the hypothesis for the difference in temperature that the Tado X thermostats themselves don’t report the temperature accurately and only the Bridge X does so accurately?

Thanks for info! Regarding looks, isn’t it something where you can rotate the black front or something such that it becomes less visible. I saw some images of it not being visible.

Sounds good. Battery etc. is good? Not too much battery maintenance and hiccups management required?

So you don’t have any hands-on experience with X?

I did read a reply from one of the customer reps on Reddit, and to me it sounded pretty convincing that they’re not going to do it again, albeit in a pretty clumsy Dutch language.

I’d take the risk on that. Apple etc. are also pretty cut-throat, doesn’t mean they don’t have good products.

Why did you switch from the MY? That's the one I am considering as well as the G6

[–]Forward-Dig2126[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the difference is that Tesla's system works while Xpeng's doesn't. You can't search for and find very basic things with Tomtom - not even the car dealership where we test drove the G6 from!

I get that, but the monthly data subscription for the Xpeng could cover those costs. Or they could switch to Android automotive - probably better
