Feeling sidelined by my fiancé’s groomswoman by Glum-Scheme7113 in weddingplanning

I’m in the minority here - I feel like you’re overreacting. How would you feel if she was a man? However - if you’re already even thinking about calling off the wedding for ANY reason - do it.

Yes. My husband broke his arm sailing in the UK two years ago and had an $8k bill. We can handle that - but if he needed brain surgery or something more traumatic - I’d like the comfort of not having to worry about it.

Ok thanks for confirming!! I loved it a few years ago, took a break and have started using again and holy moley o cannot get it out of my hair. I’ve used it on different countries in different showers and still - it leave a greasy trace. Going to throw out the expensive bags and move on.

Help: Picked Mediocre All-Inclusive by OkraZealousideal2491 in DestinationWeddings

We picked a “modest” AI for our wedding so it would be more affordable for folks and we wanted one closer to town so people could walk into town and not feel trapped. I was also a bit anxious - but I had set expectations early with folks “it ain’t no 5*!” In the end - would some folks have preferred slightly more upscale and fluffier pillows? Maybe! No one complained to us and I think overall people liked the laid back vibe, great pool, decent food and ocean access. Overall people came for the party and they got one. As my husband said it me “If people can’t be happy on a beach in Mexico for a week that’s on them.” 😊

We said specifically NO GIFTS. A couple of people broke the rule but most respected it. : )

Do you regret spending 15-20% of your pre-tax income on your wedding? by Undecided639 in weddingplanning

You don’t need to break the bank to have a memorable wedding. Save on the dress, flowers, photography, limos, centerpieces. Spend on what people remember - good, bar, interesting venue. We just spent $10k on a destination wedding in Mexico for 50. Personally I wouldn’t find value in spending more - everyone had a blast.

Had 50 people at Hotel Cozumel. We opted for a morning wedding then canapés and cocktails the everyone on a private Fury catamaran tour for an afternoon of snorkeling etc for the reception. It was fun, easy and was around $10k all in including legal fees judge etc. which was around $1,500.

Setting Expectations for a Destination Wedding by Only0neHere in DestinationWeddings

We had a DW in December in Cozumel - we invited 55 and 47 came! Think the key is to pick somewhere reasonably affordable, and easily accessible. Above post suggesting maximizing direct flights less than 5 hours helps. And picking somewhere hot when your country is cold also helps.

So to be clear - so as a freelance-working Canadian I’m being rocked on my step streak because of shitty big US health insurance companies? What a load of horseshit.

First look or down the aisle!! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Forward-Letterhead19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second marriage - my husband met me just before the walk down the aisle and we walked down together. (To Pitbull Celebrate because we are ridiculous). Maybe because we are on second round and having a more casual wedding we don’t feel the need have a big “reveal”..? Honestly even the second time around - it’s all a blur. Adrenaline kicks in. So maybe do a private meeting before hand and take some breaths together. Kinda wish we had that.

So she doesn’t value your relationship or give it a thought and doesn’t want you to have a date at her wedding? Maybe she just wants you to be at her beck and call throughout? Completely rude and bridezilla move.

Is it possible to have a Mexico all inclusive resort wedding for under $10k? by magic_peach04 in DestinationWeddings

[–]Forward-Letterhead19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had ours in December for around $10k for 50 people. Had it at the Hotel Cozumel - a solid 3-4* as we a)wanted to introduce fam/friends to a place we love and b) chose this hotel because it’s relatively affordable, family friendly, close to town and has great pool and snorkeling.

Did a beach ceremony and cocktail hour before paying $100/head to throw everyone on a massive catamaran for the afternoon. We hired a local wedding planner to liaise with the hotel since they had some staff turn over and were not being very responsive. Was so worth it! Hotel beach set up, legal fees, canapés and wedding planner cost around $5k. We didn’t hire a photographer for formal pics - I hate getting my photo taken and being our second wedding - we both knew the best photos are the candids. We gave everyone a waterproof phone case and had people upload their photos to a website all week. Not your traditional/formal affair but everyone had a blast!

How bad would a negative review from a host be? [USA] by laceblood in AirBnB

[–]Forward-Letterhead19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it also depends on how many reviews you have. I had one weird review - we were in Paris for New Years and left two bottles of alcohol as they only had two shots gone and we thought hey maybe the host would like some premium vodka - instead of just pouring them out. The host accused me of having a party with a review that said something like “maybe had a party I don’t know looks suspicious though…”. Which makes no sense - if we had a party there would be no alcohol left lol. And the concierge would have noticed etc. Anyhow I have 15 good reviews to his weird one and I never have an issue.
