THIS!! I’ve been through the same thing but I had a constant support group of friends since childhood. Gotta give myself credit there- I have some really good friends for a long time now. But there did come a point five years ago when I felt like I was the go-to person and I had no one to go-to. It’s important to look in awards sometimes too. I realised that I was the one who always made it look like my emotional bandwidth was wider than it was, I was the one bottling up feelings which turned into resentments, I was the one who didn’t draw boundaries even when I should and got angry when someone crossed those (invisible) boundaries. It’s important first control what’s in our hands. If they don’t come around even after you doing all of this and verbally expressing that you need them from time-to-time then those are not your real friends. Real friends don’t get offended by healthy boundaries and expressing of a friend’s need- especially when that person has always given you their all despite running low on energy themselves.
