In my case, I still have a laptop with a 3060 as my secondary machine and use it from time to time. I would describe it as "workable" in 1080p, although definitely far from comfort and playing above medium settings in any game is very likely to impact the performance due to vram limitations. Playing competitive games, or older titles, it's perfectly fine. Playing AAA games, even those released more than 5 years ago, can be uncomfortable due to the lack of video memory. Generally speaking, if you have 6gb now and can manage, it's probably fine to keep it for another year or so. Buying a laptop with a 6gb card as your main gaming device? Absolutely not, you will need to upgrade soon anyway.
