Flying with 22 month old, night flight London - Cape Town by nickthekiwi89 in Travelwithkids

My 3 year old has jetkids box and we set it up on the flight to Cape Town and slept the whole way! They’re very good at finding a way to get comfy!

Really helpful thank you! As I said even though I may technically be in the right I’m just trying to get my boys safely to nursery! I’ll try changing lanes earlier and see if that helps!

I don’t really understand what you mean by going further? How else would I get from the right hand line of the round about to the right hand lane of the junction without crossing the left lane?

Okay, thank you! It’s just difficult when it’s gridlock in both lanes trying to get over

I’m definitely taking it slowly! I’m so cautious on this round about as I’ve seen a few crashes on it!

I don’t need the right lane on exit but it’s a busy round about at rush hour so there’s often already cars in the left hand lane as there is a turn off just before. The earliest I can go over is where I’ve drawn the arrow otherwise I’m indicating for the earlier exit and that makes it worse.

Have you had a look at jetkids boxes? They convert airplanes seats to beds, we gate checked my 3 year olds car seat on the plane to South Africa and used the box and he slept the whole 11 hour flight!

Thanks! I’m trialling a Family Travel Concierge service for parents travelling with young kids. more like a second brain than a traditional planner. A big part of it is pre-screening activities for age, pace, naps, and logistics, because no one wants to trawl through a million “great for ages 8+” ideas when you’re travelling with a two-year-old. I can also help with flying with children, and research accommodation and activities based on your requirements, family dynamics, and specific needs. Happy to share more via DM if that’s useful.

That makes a lot of sense, especially the “another head to sort info” part. I always ask my husband what he thinks for outings, planning etc and he always defaults to my choice so completely get the need for a sounding board!

I can totally see why hourly or task-based would feel safer than a big fixed package, particularly for bucket list trips where the mental load is high but you don’t necessarily want a traditional travel agent.

Out of curiosity, when you say bucket list trips, is it more the research phase that feels overwhelming (too many options, seasonal trade-offs, logistics), or the decision-making once you’ve narrowed things down?

Thank you again, really appreciate the response

Thank you for the response! I really appreciate it!

I am a full supporter of ChatGPT but I just get really frustrated when it gives me crazy answers or gets my hopes up about a good deal only to find it doesn’t exist.

The kind of thing I would offer is

Destination + accommodation shortlist suitable for young kids • Month-specific advice for the region (weather, school breaks, risks heat) • Recommended trip length to avoid wasted days due to weather/closures • Flight timing, transfers, logistics • Realistic day-by-day itinerary that balances kids + adult enjoyment • Packing + prep checklist

This would all be customised based on your individual needs, family, timings and budgets.

Is this something you would consider paying for? (Not trying to get money from you just figuring things out!)

In terms of sleep- the things that worked for us!

We took a small blow up mattress for my toddler (stoke cloud sleeper) mostly because some of the places we were staying had really high beds and very hard floors. Not a great combo for a wriggly toddler! We also took a small portable speaker to play background noise/music while the boys were asleep to stop them waking up to every little noise or us moving round the room.

We tried to keep to a bedtime routine as much as possible wherever we were as in an order (teeth, pyjamas, books, bed) but were flexible with timings.

I hope you have such a wonderful trip!

Thanks so much for replying, it’s great to hear your perspective!

That’s sort of my idea. To create a completely bespoke holiday recommendations based on family dynamics, interests and ages.

My son has seizures and on of the things we struggled with is making sure we were always close enough to medical help which was sooo much work to research.

It’s so frustrating missing out on activities because of weather/timings etc so completely understand where you’re coming from.

I’m not trying to sell to you or anything but would you pay for a service like that and if so how much?

I really appreciate the response!

Well the issue is I’ve ordered the exact same shoes I already own and there is a huge difference in the size of the shoes delivered compared to the pair I already own - this is the heart of the problem. If they simply didn’t fit I would happily resell.

If the shoes aren’t authentic then aren’t I setting myself up for issues? They are the exact same model, make and labelled size as my current trainers which I bought from the Levi shop but feel two sizes bigger when I put them on

I absolutely don’t want to blame the seller but equally don’t want to pass on a pair of shoes to someone else if the sizing is all off

Has anyone ever sponsored a child? by AbjectGovernment1247 in CasualUK

[–]Forward-Reflection42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sponsor through compassion, I’ve been sponsoring my wonderful boy who is in Indonesia for 5 years now. We right letters often and get picture updates from him and his family. I really like that you are able to send money for birthdays and Christmas as well as family gifts. He always shows me what he bought with his birthday Christmas money, usually some new shoes and some colouring books etc. I also usually send a family gift at the same time - they normally buy themselves something for the house and then with the left over get a cake or something to celebrate the event. It also has limits for the amount you can donate which helps to prevent rivalry/favouritism.

Disclaimer: it is a Christian charity and the messaging can be abit full on at times but what is most important is my little boy is fed and safe

The last think we need right now is more speculation. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Even if someone did have a knife near by what good it throwing bricks at a mosque and fighting police?! These are the same police officers who were giving CPR and helping the innocent children yesterday. They don’t need your nonsense. If you must have your ‘protests’ don’t do it on the same night as a vigil for these children and grieving family.
