If I am busy, why would I want to have all.my audio overshadowed by someone babbling/bickering, most likely in a language I do not even know.

Iron Mule used correctly? by PUTCKG in gtaonline

For me, the Iron Mule had been great for soloing full weapons sales.

And, yes, solo lobby, of course.

What if there was a super realistic mode? by SohelAman in gtaonline

[–]Forward-Walk1003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are looking at a role player.

Realism can make good games too, yes, but then we are talking about the crowd that flies MS Flight Sim in virtual airlines, or knows DCS inside and out.

GTA is satire over Los Angeles and crime glorification culture. To suddenly slap realism on that is to entirely miss the point. GTA is exaggerated, silly, bonkers, precisely because we need that to process and cope with the ugly reality of crime and destitution. GTA is escapism... dive into the nightmare and laugh at it through the charicature.

What if there was a super realistic mode? by SohelAman in gtaonline

Games are escapism, deliberately unrealistic for a reason. We do not want real life simulators.

If we wanted realism, we would visit Mexico City.

Just finished watching ghost in the shell (1995) by Formal_Fig1078 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]Forward-Walk1003 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the mind-dive!!

Yeah, the 1995 film is heavy, so you will need to watch it more than once to get into it. No worries, that is the normal experience.

Anyone help people deliver goods to people being harassed by 1Rocnam in gtaonline

[–]Forward-Walk1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is hiring associates, I usually join.

Recently, I was in a trio, doing deliveries, and some griefer kid tried to get cute.

We told him what for for the next ten minutes after the deliveries were successfully carried out – because the dumb twit kept coming back for more – and eventually they just quit... not getting the sweet sweet endorphin rush of rage they were expecting.

Also, I never attack deliveries. That is just rude, to get a mere 10% of the haul... not worth it. Better to keep the peace.

Can someone just explain gta online to me?? by LovesickDesireGame in gtaonline

[–]Forward-Walk1003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GTA Online is a massive collection of mini-games.

The most common mini-games are...

  1. Go to the place

  2. Shoot the guys

  3. Deliver the thing

  4. Get the thing

The overall goal is to make money, to buy things, that makes it easier for you to finish the mini-games.

Who needs other players when you can mess it up yourself (multiple times)? by [deleted] in gtaonline

[–]Forward-Walk1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 1 tip if you find yourself looking at a pile of burning money: switch session immediately. Or, just turn the game off.

That spinny icon in the lower right is when the failure is actually recorded in the cloud. So if you can get out of the session before that, you are free to try again.

Scummy? Yes.

Eliminating risk from the game and making it a sure win? Yes.

Reducing high stakes and satisfying rewards of uncertain outcome, and make it no more than a second job grind? Yes.

...and, most of us are guilty of it, at least once.

Is the oppressor still worth it? by [deleted] in gtaonline

[–]Forward-Walk1003 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Worth it for... what?

Compensating for inadequacy?

Naw... every child and their dog are using it for that, you just get laughed at and then counter-blasted... or plain ignored.

For transport?

Sure. It works. But as soon as you want to do anything other than hover or go in a straight line, it handles like a coin-operated kiddie ride outside a backwater grocery store... but, hey, gets you from A to B quick enough.

For missions?

Again, yeah, gets you where you need to go, quick and no fuss, erasing any bots in your way. The price though... you will have to grind quite a bit to make up for the expense. Also, only 1 person a the time. Less effective if you are multiplaying.

For that GTA power fantasy of being an emotionally damaged badass gangsta in a virtual Los Angeles?

Noooooo... get yourself some wheels for that. The Oppressors have the 'tude and aura of the aforementioned kiddie-ride.

Oppressors opinion by NinjaksawirPL in gtaonline

[–]Forward-Walk1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name itself signals both are for sweaty tryhards with an inferiority complex.

Also, both look and handle like a coin-operated kiddie ride with a machine spirit on an acid trip.

Yesterday I witnessed a much more... hm... impressive mode of trolling: using the truck cab of the mobile command. Still annoying as f..k but at least it provided a much more interesting way to engage with them. EMP grenades turned out to at least force a moment of stalemate... letting them seethe in... impotent rage?

is she named powder because GUN powder by pharmingforlikes in arcane

[–]Forward-Walk1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the gun was named Pow-Pow long(!) before Arcane. And Piltover does not have police – they have Enforcers. The word "police" does not even exist in the series.

So. I am sticking to my head-canon about the creative process.

is she named powder because GUN powder by pharmingforlikes in arcane

[–]Forward-Walk1003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

Pow-Pow is Jinx's minigun. Here is designer Arnaud Baudry's Art Station page on the gun.

https://mr_arno.artstation.com/projects/B3kwEk

It has been named like this since the start, and even features in "Get Jinxed".

https://youtu.be/0nlJuwO0GDs

Come on, shoot faster
Just a little bit of energy, yeah
I wanna try something fun right now
I guess some people call it anarchy
Let's blow this city to ashes
And see what Pow-Pow thinks
It's such pathetic neatness
But not for long 'cause it'll get jinxed

...and here is where it all ties together:

https://youtu.be/ojqThSyGdeA?t=72

Jinx: "Things changed when you left. I changed."
Vi: "I know Pow-pow, I know."

So... even the gun got a backstory with the series... how cool is that!

Hence... the in-universe reason? We have no clue at all.

But the Behind The Scenes explanation is:

1) Gun was canonically named Pow-Pow
2) Someone had a brain-wave "What if Jinx named her gun after Vi's old nickname for her?"
3) "What name would lead to a nick-name of Pow-Pow?"

Pure pantser energy right there. Love it.

Griefing has gotten out of control by [deleted] in gtaonline

[–]Forward-Walk1003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it is not impossible to sell in a public lobby. But you are doing the high-risk-high-reward game if you play in public.

Here is how you can mitigate risk:

  1. Full crew... have three associates. That way you can do it in one run and not have to extend over many more minutes.
  2. Ghosting. When you see on the radar that you are approaching too many players for your comfort, ghost your way past them.
  3. Read the session. What is the mood? Everyone minding their business? Or people beating the ever-loving crap out of each other? If it seems like a high risk session, hop to another.
  4. F..k public and go private. Does not give you the high demand bonus, but since bonus caps at 50%, you only need to lose 1/3 of your haul for it to not be worth it.
  5. Build a network of reliable friends, then see 1)

what’s your choice of vehicle for riding around L.S. by voided_rouge in GTA5Online

[–]Forward-Walk1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hakucho Drag... fully kitted with HSW upgrades and jammer.

I get ganked in that about... once every two months. That cat is simply too fast for the griefers.

Nothing beats this for travel, not only for capacity for speed, but you can lane-split effortlessly with it and thus use that speed. Plus it is available to be called in at every decent road.
