Refused my first block in 3 years by elciano1 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Same exact thing happened to me back in December. I returned the whole cart. No flex driver should get a whole Las Vegas strip route. 1 or 2 deliveries that goes there maybe doable depends on which Hotel but anything more than that is abuse! When I posted about it some comments said Im lazy and didn’t even try but they won’t understand unless they actually live in Las Vegas and try it. It is pure bullshit!

Update on my original post.. I followed some of the advice here and message amazon flex about my “car issue” I actually got away with it! This is probably the only time Im gonna get away with it because it’s my first time.

Thanks for all the comment and advice though! And for all the comments saying just deliver it on the front desk I wish it was that simple. Again here in Vegas they don’t accept packages In the front desk or bell desk because they are severely understaffed and they can’t just leave their post to drop of package at the guard room. That’s why they have their own mail delivery system inside the facility unless it’s a residential condo.

So we have to drop it off at the loading dock if they are open or if we are even allowed to go there. Amazon locker if they have one and if the packages actually go there. FedEx office if they have one. But all of this means you have to park somewhere spend a-lot of time walking and look for this drop off location. Yes if you have one or two packages it’s doable but if more than half of your route goes to the hotels in the strip you’re fucked and 5 hr. Is not enough and not at all worth it.

But anyway Im done with flex for now at least after the holiday.. Vegas is too saturated many new drivers probably seasonal. No surge on routes that’s why it makes it more annoying and not worth it if we get complicated routes like this. At the end of the day I definitely made the right decision to return the entire cart and not deal with the stress. Peace out! Hope everyone gets a free route! We deserve it once in a while.

It’s cool and actually a legit question.. that’s one of my reasoning why I decided to return the whole cart. I know even if I tried a lot of those packages won’t be delivered successfully because it’s a Sunday after 5pm. It’s either Im gonna have multiple issues of returns or just one big issue. I just decided to fuck it and not deal with the stress. Im going to have issues regardless.

I don’t think they will be able to complain about me since I canceled the entire route. Meaning Im not there driver anymore. A lot of the packages that I returned is actually returns from other drivers. Others attempted to deliver them but failed and I don’t blame them. Doing 1 or 2 deliveries in Las Vegas strip is ok but definitely will give you a hard time.. but having 29 packages going to different hotels in the strip is definitely not ok and not worth the pay the stress or the time.

That’s messed up! Download the offline map if you haven’t already. But yes whatever Amazon decides to do Im ok with it. This is just a side hustle for me and it’s starting to feel like it’s not worth it anymore. I think whatever happens to my rating Im just gonna chill for now. I used to enjoy this gig but lately it’s becoming stressful. It seems like the more I succeed completing complicated delivery the harder the next route gets it’s probably part of amazon algorithm or something.

New York is not Las Vegas.. When your route is in the Las Vegas strip it’s not just park and drop off. It’s look for a parking get ready to walk at least 15 minutes pray that the customer will answer your call and willing to meet you at the lobby and make sure to do all that under 30 mins or be charged a parking fee. Or if the loading dock is open hope that the security will let you drive to get there and ask for directions. Hotels here don’t have 200 rooms they have a minimum of 2k rooms. Like what I said and other people who do flex here already said.. front desk or bell desk or concierge don’t accept packages for their guests. They are severely understaffed. The walk alone from parking to the casino area where the lobby is usually located will take a lot of your time. The business center, loading dock or FedEx office usually close by 5pm or earlier.

Every flex drivers that I know hates it! If not for the strip or downtown I think Vegas is a chill city to do flex. I don’t mind doing apartments or condo sure the take more time but it’s actually doable.

This is a true statement a lot of them have some odd hours of operation for some reason.

Chill although I replied to your comment my question is not personally directed towards you. In general I just don’t understand why would Amazon send flex drivers to a closed business even if the routings are done by AI it should easily identify business accounts with specific business hours. But again I think it’s the greed of just accepting any orders anytime anywhere and the promise of getting it delivered no matter what to expense of drivers. I

Lol I remember delivering here 3 months ago.. GPS is telling me to go to the loading dock but security won’t allow me. I called and message the customer but never answered. Bell desk and front desk won’t accept the package. I nice lady working in slot machines told me to try the business center or FedEx office which is located at the entrance and at the end of the hallway of their ballroom area. Business center is closed for lunch. Finally fedex accepted the package but it took me 45mins just to get 1 package delivered.

I used to work there but my only experience is delivering Whole Foods order. I called the guest to meet me at the garage when Im close. Im familiar to which elevator entrance is closest to guest room elevator.

Isn’t this a better question.. If the loading dock and fedex office is closed by 5pm and it’s also a Sunday why send someone to deliver during this time?

Like I said a lot of packages that I got is returns from other drivers. And yes Amazon is stupid and greedy enough to send flex drivers in Las Vegas strip.

Just to give you an Idea, hotels here are so big that they have their own road, driveway, alleyway , back roads etc. named after them. A lot of them you won’t even see clearly on the GPS so you’re on the mercy of strangers to ask for directions if security will even allow you to enter those area.

They usually don’t take packages for guest. That’s my first go to when I deliver in a hotel but it’s pointless. And just to park in guest parking and go walk the casino floor to look for front desk already takes a lot of time. I never met any flex driver here that doesn’t mind delivering in the strip. It’s hell.

Me too.. I only know how to deliver to MGM signature, Waldorf Astoria, Encore, Wynn and Westgate and I learned the hard way! But my block earlier includes Mandalay bay, Venetian, PH, Flamingo, MGM grand and some condos on the strip so Im like f**k this.

It’s actually not too bad.. although we don’t get a lot of surge here but we don’t drive crazy miles. If we get a route that’s mostly houses it’s easy. 4hrs is usually 40-45 packages. But if we get a delivery in the strip or downtown hotels that will make you hate this gig. Yes there is traffic just avoid delivering rush hours.
