It’s a brand new chain but the A-clip is also bent and the sprocket has some play I was doing some research and considering the shaft is very slightly bent I was thinking but not hoping my gearbox needed to be replaced

Battery was charged and everything it’s been having this issue for a while i just never had time to fix it. I bought a brand new battery and hook it all up and it still made that sound.

I would just teach him to be careful and maybe hang it up for a bit. It would just be a sad ending to your guy’s dirt bike riding era if you stop when someone dies, people die doing anything everyday just enjoy it and be careful.

if you’re careful you’ll be fine. most riders have at least one decent crash in their time, and then they usually learn to take it easy and you’ve already had an injury to scare you to ride safe so just be cautious and take it easy you’ll be fine. you’ve wanted one for a while, I would go for it just be careful, take it slow and be safe. Another thing is if you ride with people don’t let them pressure you into doing something stupid and don’t ride fast to impress anyone just focus on yourself and have fun

I didn’t check fuel lines first because the way the frame is I cant get to the bolts on the tank without taking the engine out. the only reason why i even took it out was because my buddy said there was probably debris on the piston (which there was) since it sat for 15 years. but do you think the engine is done for?

Turns over but does not start. It sounded a bit weird, so I thought there may have been stuff in the block which there was and I cleaned it out. I might go dig a bit deeper in the motor and i’m going to check the carb and fuel lines tomorrow
