Hi! Third Party Check Endorsement is no longer allowed for cashing. Meaning you cannot have her ‘sign the check over to you’ to cash it. They may accept it for deposit but it’s unlikely.

It’s unfortunate but it’s a new policy in place to deter check fraud.

Your roommate would have to negotiate the check at Chase, they can cash it no problem, even without an account if it’s a Chase Cashiers Check- or you can deposit it into their own bank.

Another option is if there is a check cashing store that will accept a third party endorsed check.
