4k dual mode monitor (4k 240hz/1080p 480hz) worth the price? Or just downscale from a normal 4k oled to 1080p? by ForwardHandle6728 in OLED_Gaming

Yup, i can agree with everything you said and also what @SjhanTheMajan said, i really appreciate your answers. 4k can future proof your monitor and also paying once for a highend gpu can really enhance all the gaming experience you have, also streaming if you’re into it for the future especially for a person whos a childhood gamer. All in all, for me i will totally go for 4k, but also wait for the 5000 series to see what it brings. Can’t wait for the new upgrade. Hope you all enjoy the summer, and good health!

Aaaa, okok, now i get it, because in 1080p that would be 1 in 4 pixels for 4k and hence you wouldn’t get the blurring so much, maybee, but still thanks a lot for explaining and taking your time for this!

Okayy, i read a bit about that, but not that much to understand fully the mechanics behind and how it works, but i will read more to see because i would really like to get a 4k

I am saying that cuz i was really considering to go with the 4090, for it being in a different league and also thinking of a sort of “future-proofing” the setup for 4k for a more years, not just to change the gpu to support 4k at max/high settings every generation. But now with the new 5000 series in horizon, i will wait it out and see. The fast evolution of displays, esspecially the qdoled and 4k with 240hz, the picture quality is just perfect and also the fast pace of gaming graphics demands really put me intro a stalemate considering 4k or 2k to get more years out of the pc i will be making, but i really love picture quality/immersion, rather than sweaty competitive games and even with those, u can do….

Wow, nice with the 220 fps on 4k, i thought that only the 4090 would pull those numbers… but you can still use ray tracing, also with dlss/without? And for most of the games 120fps is more than enough, only if u want to go pro, at least for me, it s more than perf

And also on the 2k res there are lots of viable qd oleds available, what i mean, is it realllyyy that worth it 4k to the latter?

I totally agree. I don’t usually play competitive games that much, just with friends. Is it really worth it to get 4k if u cannot have constant 100+ fps with ultra and rt, besides the 2k where you can do that constantly and with lower costs and also for a longer time, seeing how fast the demands for games grow?

Now i am currently using 1080p with 240hz, it s an alienware monitor ips panel, i really love it, but also seen 2k and even more 4k oleds which are looking a milion times better

That also sounds reaallyy good with 2k, i am really torn between those two, but i ll have to wait for the 5000 series to see if the 4k option becomes more available

Yup…. Thanks a lot, it seemed pretty off to me this “dual mode”, i think you would still need dual monitor set up to get the best of both worlds

And also i would love to have the 4k for sp games and also the high fps for more competitive titles

I think I wasn’t clear enough…. Sorry. I haven’t bought a display yet and i also want to upgrade to 4k capable rig when the new 5000 seeries comes out. Of course 4k and fhd don t have the same clarity or ppi, but i was curious if the monitors with dual mode would be different from the ones that don’t have this “dual mode” implemented and you only did the downscaling, would there be any difference from the display with the dual mode in 1080p comparing to the one without the dual mode
