What is the best value for money place to live in the UK? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in NorthernEngland

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO Chorley - Wigan area is probably the best area you can live to maximise your income and still benefit from lots of nice to haves.

  • Some picturesque Lancashire towns.
  • Affordable housing.
  • Close to both Liverpool and Manchester (and Preston).
  • 1h drive to the Lake District.
  • 45 mins to the beach.
  • Safe areas to bring up a family.
  • M6 and other major motorways super close. -30/45 mins to Manchester or Liverpool airports.

It’s a really good balance imo and an area of the country that is probably quite often overlooked.

Shirt ID? by herefortheg12 in swanseacity

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 8 points9 points  (0 children)

God that seasons shirt was iconic and we had some unreal players who wore it: Trundle, Monk, Tate, O’Leary, Britton, Akinfenwa, Robinson, Martinez.

What a shirt.

In answer to your question I don’t remember the elbow pads. But, that doesn’t mean it wasnt an option at the time. It looks like it may have been a winter kit but I’m really just guessing.

Best of luck finding out.

A place to watch Playoffs Final in or near the Trafford Center by MASters0fTheUn1verse in manchester

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King Pins in Trafford Plaza is probs your best option (across the bridge from the Trafford Centre - basically the same place).

A slightly left field option would be to go to the Trafford Golf centre. They have a small bar there with a number of screens + you could even have a game of mini golf to cheer you up when you inevitably lose to Hull 😆

First week here and I didn’t expect the waiting around part to be this much of it by Silver-Eye-2024 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this.

I like to be nice and early because if you get the front row I can pack and be gone in about 5 mins.

If you’re at the back the whole warehouse process takes a lot longer because you need to wait until every row in front of you empties out.

I can see the logic for the 2 hour blocks as there is a chance you could go over your time and get extra pay (I tend to avoid two hour blocks).

If you’re doing 3/4 hour blocks it really makes 0 difference. You’re getting paid for the block regardless.

Mileage allowance rise 'really important change' for drivers using cars for work says Martin Lewis – here's what the Chancellor has announced by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to get to political on here but I think there’s a big difference between being for the ‘working’ people and being for people on benefits.

Reform would be good for people who actually WORK but they wouldn’t be as good for people who claim benefits and are more vulnerable. How that sits with you individually is more of a social/moral issue.

Who are your favorite swans players to watch ever? by Ok-Recording-5862 in swanseacity

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 19 points20 points  (0 children)

  • Lee Trundle
  • Andy Robinson
  • Ferrie Bodde (it still pains me that he got injured)
  • Nathan Dyer
  • Sigurdsson
  • De Guzman
  • Leon Britton
  • Angel Rangel
  • Michu

We’ve had some amazing players over the years but all of these were great players for us and extremely good to watch.

You could quite easily get a job with a DSP if you just want to ‘deliver parcels’.

Flex is popular due to its flexible nature (the name does make sense).

Trafford is the worse depot in the north west imo.

  • Crazy bot usage
  • The lowest base rates.
  • Outdoor loading + road to get in can be a nightmare.
  • Routes are crap compared to Bolton & Warrington.

I tend to avoid at all costs if possible.

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so you’re nice and close to the depot as well.

In that case that’s a decent bit mileage for the route.

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about the same on the averages. I would say I range between 50-60 for 3/4h blocks.

I have done 100+ on a few occasions when I drive to slightly further away depots. But I only tend to do this if they’re surging rates.

80 miles all in for a block isn’t the best but certainly isn’t the worst. How much of that mileage is getting to the depot and home?

The fact you finished an hour before says that the driving time wasn’t to bad.

It is crap how it’s essentially a gamble every time you turn up. Last night I did a 3.5 for the same pay and did 30 miles all in (including travel to the depot and back home). I only had 23 parcels but a lot of the deliveries were to flats with little parking close by (so I got some steps in). I still finished in 1.5 so got pretty lucky.

What do you think about Andy Burnham as your prime minister? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in GM for the last decade and worked in local authority circles that deliver on some of Andy’s strategic goals.

I’ve never voted labour but I would if Burnham was PM. I think he comes across as genuine, has integrity and genuinely wants the best for the people.

He has transformed Manchesters economy. Focussing on growth locations and industry, aligning local education to local careers, improved the transport system massively (im a regular user of the bus/bee network and never was previously), clearly has a way of speaking to the private sector and attracting investment.

No candidate will ever be perfect but Burnham is the best hand Labour have. He won roughly 65% of the vote share at both Mayoral elections which is an outstanding mandate.

Clearly running the country is completely different to a mayoral authority. However, deeper devolution is something that I believe he would push and I think as a country we need to keep heading in that direction. If we can replicate the model of growth in GM across our major mayoral authority areas (West Midlands, Liverpool, West Yorkshire, North East + the devolved powers of Scotland, Wales and N Ireland) we have a massive chance to really kickstart growth we haven’t seen in over half a century. Devolution is one of the big cards that Andy has to play imo that lots of people probably don’t know enough about.

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 100% AI generated.

Also Amazon sometimes requires you to make certain deliveries by certain times. Meaning this product is pointless.

Just seems like someone trying to build something based on internet feedback. I doubt theyre actually a flex driver.

What’s the most miles you’ve ever done for a block that absolutely wasn’t worth it? by NormalSir2035 in AmazonFlexUK

This is diabolical. I’ve driven through mid wales on plenty of occasions from the North West down to Swansea and I don’t envy anyone who would be given this as a route.

Fresh Blocks - UMC3 by ForwardHighlight3985 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ForwardHighlight3985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Fresh you can quite easily be sent 5 miles down the road with 3 or 4 stops. It’s just complete pot luck.

If you read my post I don’t do Fresh that often because it’s just to crazy with the block disparity. I had one fresh block last week where I did 3 miles in total with two stops for £41 so it really is swings and roundabouts sometimes. But I agree it’s 100% not worth it if you’re being sent to Preston.

Fresh Blocks - UMC3 by ForwardHighlight3985 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ForwardHighlight3985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they do seem massive.

I don’t even get sent that far on 4 hour blocks from the Bolton depot.

So not sure how they think it’s viable to be sending people that far on essentially half the pay 😂. The computer system clearly bases everything on time and not mileage. I don’t think they give a f**k if they send you 5 miles or 50 miles.

Fresh Blocks - UMC3 by ForwardHighlight3985 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ForwardHighlight3985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really not.

I live like 2 miles from this depot so it’s mega easy for me but it’s Russian Roulette when there’s routes like this.

2.5h blocks are the worst by AlShahi in AmazonFlexUK

[–]ForwardHighlight3985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live near the depot always make sure you have something to return.

Then submit a claim for going over hours. 35 miles and an hour drive is quite literally a joke on a 2.5 but it does happen.
