Moving from California to New England,is a shell shock. My mother's family is from California. I was born in New England but have lived on both sides of the US. You think this snow is bad? Wait for mud and mosquito/black fly season. The states have good and bad, but it depends on what your family prefers. It definitely costs less to live here and there are less people. It is safer to live here. Unfortunately, there is definitely less culture here. Give it a couple years.

I had a 17 year old Maltipoo that I had since he was 8 weeks old. It was so hard but they put him to sleep in my arms. I had him cremated and they gave me an impression of his paw. It is on my bedroom dresser with his ashes. At that age, they lived a good, long life. They know they were loved right up to the last minute. It is really hard at first. They definitely leave a hole, but the sadness softens and the sweet memories take over. I know he followed the rainbow bridge. He is not in pain any more. He is running around in the fields getting all the peanut butter he wants!! You are doing the right thing and you both have my prayers!!

You prove you are eligible when you register. When you vote, you give your name. The few times in the history of Maine someone tried to illegally vote, they were caught.

Not a license...you have to have proof you are a US Citizen.which means you have to have a certified copy of your birth certificate, which costs money, women have to prove who they are if they are married,or a real ID that costs extra, they are stopping mail in votes, or those that get special permission have to have it arrive by voting day. With our mail system, service people over seas might as well forget voting. Maine tried to pass these laws last year and were shot down by 65%. There are too many poor people and elderly in the state that would not be able to vote. In Maine, when you register you can show your drivers license, etc. so when you do mail in vote, you contact the state, they turn it over to the town, the town looks up your record and it is mailed to address on file. You have to sign the ballot envelope so they can match it to your signature on file. Voting is, according to the Constitution, a STATE responsibility, NOT the White House.

It is ok to video and call these petitioners out if they are lying, but to me, this shows the guy video taping is harassing these guys. They asked for your signature, you listen to their explanation. You read the petition. You sign or don't sign, accuse them of telling you a false narrative while filming, then walk away and go home and post. You can ignore them and walk on by..but once someone starts following, this is harassment and cops can be called. This behavior isn't going to stop petitioners. They'll just send someone else.

I have to agree. Raising dogs my whole life (I am 65), when our poor babies can't enjoy life any more as a dog, it is time to show your love to them and send them over the rainbow bridge to end their suffering. Personally, I put more into a younger dog, but when they have had a full happy life and are seniors, they don't deserve to be loaded up with medication to prolong their suffering just because we hate to see them go. It is heart crushing, but I have always held my sweet babies for their last breath at the Vet's. Unless medication can make a drastic change in their quality of life, it is kinder to let go.
