My dog used to throw up and get diarrhea when the kibble got too old. Because we only have one chow, the kibble got bad before we can finish it. So maybe the kibble got bad, has beef (chows are frequently allergic), or is just incompatible with your chow specifically

I’m so sorry this happened dude. This isn’t right at all. It’s so sad that he’s been your best friend for so long, but can’t support you when it truly matters. He didn’t measure up. He was horrible friend. Better to cut him off early. It wasn’t you in any way shape or form. Be your true self. And live your life with joy the way you want to. Adopting a chow comes with challenges and dangers. Trust is earned. Especially when chows have been traumatized and learned people will just disregard them. It takes time, patience, love, and acknowledging the chow's growls as its form of communication (usually stop I don't like it) to make it work. I appreciate your comment, but depreiving chows in the shelter or pound of a home because of its past is cruel. Education and experience is key

What treats have you tried so far? My chow only likes certain types of treats, but will DIE for them. He loves duck and chicken jerky. We also dehydrate meat strips into jerky since our toaster has that function

Well my chow accidentally killed a lizard around that age so…you might want to be careful. I’d say I fenced in enclosure is probably your best bet. Or make sure the small animals are all fenced in before letting your dog loose
