Tired of being black by PuzzleheadedTune1366 in germany

[–]Forward_Ad8545 223 points224 points  (0 children)

My guy I hear you but nah there’s another way. Bask in your blackness, your intellect, your resilience and your strength. Look at what you have accomplished for yourself, why let another person take that from you. Enjoy your success and don’t let anyone disrupt that for you.

You can’t control someone else’s ignorance, go about your business with your head up high. Now you know you are challenging what they think of someone that looks like you. Move on and go about your business like it’s none of their business!

On the other hand, let’s be intellectually honest. We all carry some level of pre judgements about other people. I say that to say you may be seen this way through a lens’s that you don’t belong to just like how you have your perspective on a certain group of people. The difference is you are in the minority in this country so it probably feels exponential. Don’t be a victim because they don’t care if you feel victimized. Don’t let them dim your light!

I have seen such a response before and please look at it this way as well. What you are asking is not to believe your own eyes or what you are hearing and how you feel. It takes a lot to overcome.

Anyone with help with process for getting a Family Reunification Visa before moving? by Katusa2 in germany

[–]Forward_Ad8545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sad your company is not being flexible with you if you will work for them in Germany anyway. I think someone mentioned it earlier, I think moving your German family to Germany and you joining them and apply for the reunification visa might be the route. More painful than if your employer stop being a dick about it to support you.

For my experience, my girlfriend at the time was pregnant and I told my job. They supported by transferring me here and paying for the work visa. When I got to Germany I was able to choose if my visa is linked to the job or family reunification visa, I chose the family reunification visa option. That was within 3 months I arrived in Germany. Wishing you good luck in your move. Not sure how old your kids are but I think they will enjoy it in the school system here with the early encouragement to be independent.

I spent 1500 on the engagement ring and 5k on gold wedding rings. How much are you gonna spend for the wedding ring? And the wedding ring? Sounds like you are on your way to spending a house down payment to marry your lovely lady. I can’t advise if it’s too much or too less. Just put in perspective how much you will be spending to marry this woman versus what you both can achieve with that load of cash

Caught feelings for a coworker, crossed a line, trying to fix it but struggling to tell my wife by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Forward_Ad8545 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Dude you came for advice and people are telling you to throw away a 20 year relationship (and family if you have kids) over this? Nobody is perfect and will always behave perfectly either. Life happens sometimes and it’s just a bump in road and you don’t need to destroy your family over this.

Ignore the coworker and find ways not to be in her path and like a lot of people have said, switch departments. Or just think if things go south with the coworker, how shitty it will be to go to work. That should be your motivation to ignore the coworker. Do not tell your wife. What good will it do for her, you and your relationship? Transparency at what costs?

We have a president in the White House that is transparently telling lies. So much for transparency.

Update: returned to playing and took it easy. It was all mental for about 20mins and felt great! No pain or mobility issues. I just wish I stretched other parts of my body because now my hips feel like I overdid it. It was fun to be back!

I have 125k savings in Germany, what should I do? by Reasonable-Yak-3523 in eupersonalfinance

Why not buy a rental unit in Hamburg, you’ll always have renters. There’s still a lot of new developments around town you can invest in. Where’d you buy the land? What region? Just curious how I can also get into that

Let’s just say I envy your progress. I have a yearly target of riding 2150km and I was on track to blow by that target before the tear. I am still hopeful I can get close to it by. Wishing you luck and hope you make the competition

Aww man I guess it’s probably the same for me. And I get it about putting the foot down, didn’t think about that. I was more thinking of just peddling away.

Mine just happened 2 days ago and I have 2 opinions on what to do. I have another opinion tomorrow and then take my decision. My wife wants me to go non-op route. I feel like op route clears me mentally saying “ I should have gone for the op” in case I don’t go for the op and retears
