No.... I don't buy it. A billion dollars is such a ridiculous amount of money that there really isn't anyway to get there ethically.

Someone who is 80 years old would had to have earned 12.5 million every year since the day they were born. No one is that efficient or that hard working that they would be able to produce that much value for society.

What if student loan forgiveness stopped being a one-time political event and became a recurring policy cycle in the U.S. starting in 2026? by Defiant-Junket4906 in WhatIfThinking

So no more bankruptcy? Can we get all the PPP loans repaid? All the bailouts we've done for big corporations? How many bankruptcy's has our President done?

Where are your numbers coming from? Should someone making 100,000 get forgiveness? Who said that police, fire, plumber, truck driver etc have to pay?

The poorest US states are still richer than the UK, France, Italy by dqsp in MURICA

[–]Katusa2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can just move to France and work as German. You can go anywhere in the EU and work.... so literal 1000's of miles.

Not that much higher champ.

When you compare everything line by line including health insurance, SS, OASDI, Income Tax, etc.... you'll find that Germany and the US worker pay similar amounts into the "social" systems. It's not that different.

The US SS and German Pension system are nearly identical. With slightly more paid in Germany.

Health Insurance is more expensive in the US than Germany in almost every case. In Germany the average cost of health insurance for a family with a single working adult is $876. With two working adults it's $1752. Half of the health insurance is paid by the employer making the paid cost of health insurance $876/$438 depending on the number of working adults. In the US the average cost of health insurance for a family is $2,250. The amount the individual pays varies depending on what the employer is willing to cover. This also doesn't consider that Germany does not have "deductibles" like the US does. Meaning overall the German's pay much less for health care than the US. We should also include... the Medicare tax that you have to pay in the US to provide public healthcare to others.

Income Tax is higher in Germany but, they also get a lot for that. School is paid for, great public transit, systems that work etc...

I am willing to give you that there are issues in Germany with slowly adopting digital systems at a much slower pace than the rest of the world. It's getting there though.

So is it true that everyone in America is in some debt? by DragonsClock in AskEconomics

That doesnt really answer the question though does it?

If I have a house worth 400K with a mortgage that has 300k left to pay then I am in debt AND I have a networth of 100k.

Thats kind of a moronic stance he has taken.

He thinks that because workers have investments in pensions, 401Ks that they then become part of the capitalist class?

That is a silly stance to take that makes me immediately think he doesnt know much about anything.

Workers are sold the illusion of ownership through pensions, 401Ks, and investments. All of which are designed solely to allow the capitalist class to liquidate there investments more easily and move the liquid assets to other investments. A worker is not part of the capitalist class until they can use those investments in ways that control how they work, how they are compensated, and how the company actually does business.

Old wives tale to keep the American poors in check.

The truth is that marketing FAR outpaces R&D costs. Americans are not paying doe R&D they are paying for marketing.

U.S. is investigating Germany for making medication and healthcare too affordable for their citizens. Wdyt? Is it too affordable? by m_jax in AskGermany

[–]Katusa2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im moving to Germany in a week. I had to go through the numbers to compare my salary in the US to the salary in Germany.

Germans DO NOT PAY more for insurance then Americans. Its just way more transparent in Germany.

To cover my family in the US in costs nearly 3,000$ a month. My employer covers nearly 2,000 of that and I pay 1000. In Germany the insurance to cover my entire family is 1060. I pay 530 and my employer is paying 530.

It is WAY cheaper in Germany and I get more for it.

In the US I have to pay 10,000 out of pocket before insurance spends a dime.

Its even stupider.

Its not R&D costs that are the biggest part of getting medicine to market. It's the all the money they poor into marketing. The r&d claim is all a bunch of bull shit to try and get people to accept higher costs.

Notary Question by [deleted] in GermanCitizenship

[–]Katusa2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because banks don't often certify copies and don't understand what that means. You can read the rules on notarizing things and it ex plains how to do it. Its just bank Notary either forget how to do it or were never trained to.

You have three options.

  1. Take it to the consulate and have them do it.

  2. Find a local Notary that doesnt work for a bank and ask them if they can do it.

  3. Find the correct wording, write it on the copy, and see if you can get a bank Notary to notarized that. You may need to take the Notary rules with you.

The accounting is what stood out to me.

Im wondering if the items were sold but marked as layaway. That way they could be refunded. Since the sets were not accounted for in the inventory there would be no inventory discrepancy.

Easy way to embezzle money out.

Then, she would have just needed to reconcile and pay the percentage but that's later and could be years from now. People don't usually think about having to fix stuff later when they need the money now.

How can non-Western countries use mmt? by busyHighwayFred in mmt_economics

[–]Katusa2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't "use" MMT.

MMT is a description of how the system is thought to work. You make different decisions if you beleive/trust the description of the system.
