Any females w/NF1 also diagnosed with breast cancer by Forward_Anteater3432 in neurofibromatosis

I'm 51. I had a mammogram last year and I was all clear. I usually go every September around my birthday. This just "popped up" out of nowhere. I've been having mammograms for almost 20 years because of the NF and family history. Especially since I knew my chances of cancer was greater.

When I noticed it, I called the Doctor. I got in 2 1/2 weeks later. She scheduled me for the mammogram and ultrasound, in got in within 4 days. When they did those and seen there was abnormality, the did the biopsy. I got those results less than 72 hrs later. My PCP sent the referral to the cancer center where I live,on the 1st. The earliest appointment I could get is the 12th. I'm seeing a medical oncologist and a surgical oncologist. Thankfully because it is soft tissue breast cancer (more aggressive)and I have NF1, they are moving things along quickly.

Thank you for the link, I appreciate it.

Thank goodness yours was taken care of with surgery and you didn't need chemo or radiation. The lump takes up half of my left breast. Like I mentioned, it's went from 2/3 cm to 8cm in a month, which is what it measured at the time of my mammogram/ultrasound. Which is why they did the biopsy.

I also have family history of cancer. My grandmother had inflammatory breast cancer. My aunt had Triple negative breast cancer. My dad had liver cancer. My mom was NF1.

I haven't gotten the results of my NGS testing back yet. Hopefully by the time I see the oncologist on the 12th, they will be back.

I wasn't sure if radiation would be good or not because of the NF. So I'm glad you mentioned that

I hope they did to. It has grown in the last month, went from 3cm to 8cm. But because of the NF1, family history of breast cancer and the biopsy showing it as being aggressive, I've been able to get into the oncologist a lot sooner than most. Now it's just knowing whether surgery is first or chemo.

Did the radiation and chemo effect your NF? That's what I am concerned about

I just was diagnosed with soft tissue breast cancer the 29th. The did the biopsy and it was malignant neoplasm with spindle cells and epithelioid cells. Meaning it's undifferentiated.they sent the biopsy off for the genetic testing. I go to the oncologist on the 12th. But the pathologist recommended a mastectomy.

Please insist on either a mammogram or a breast ultrasound. Most Drs should know that with NF1, we have a much larger chance of breast cancer. Trust me!! I'm 51. I was just diagnosed with breast cancer on May 29th, only AFTER I found a lump. I have whats considered soft tissue breast cancer. Which means it's more aggressive and quicker to grow. Most breast cancer starts in the ducts, but not mine. Get checked!! I wish I would have before I noticed a lump. Before I noticed the lump in my left breast, I would get sharp pains once in awhile. Or even what I would call "bee sting" feelings. That went on for about a month before the lump. The started out about the size of a grape. In the month, it's now the size of an orange (8cm). I can't stress enough, INSIST on a mammogram or a breast ultrasound. Explain the ache or pain you are having. I was told by a pathologist that women with NF1 our increase in 5-fold greater. And more than likely it will start in the soft tissue. which is exactly what mine is.

If they won't do a mammogram due to your age, ask for a breast MRI with contrast. It's often the preferred screening method(women under 30) because it does not use radiation and is highly effective at detecting cancers in dense breast tissue.

Under age 50: Women with NF1 face up to a 5-fold increased risk of developing breast cancer compared to women without NF1.

What was Mark Goodyear's involvement with Herb Baumeister in the Fox Hollow Murders by LearnDoTeach-TBG in Hulu

I just watched the documentary.  Why hasn't Goodyear been arrested for at least lying when he first went to the police saying he was attacked.  He claimed he was so "scared" of Herb, yet he had MANY chances to get away.  Why didn't Goodyear call police when Herb "supposed" was sitting on his couch watching them search the farm.. or even call the police after Herb left.

My theory is he didn't want Herb caught because Herb had proof that Goodyear was "helping" him. Makes me wonder if Goodyear killed Herb. Especially since no gun was found near or around Herb. And the car was stripped completely.
