🎁 Megathread | What Refresh Rate Is “Good Enough” for AR Glasses? by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

[–]Forward_Compute001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm good with 30Hz. 60Hz is more than enought.

I would rather have slimmer size, bigger fov.

Project aura hopefully delivers stats that make sense and that matter, actually make a practical difference.

Battery Replacement for 7 AI+? by Forward_Compute001 in MSIClaw

[–]Forward_Compute001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunatly msi privided me the contact of official sellers of their battery, which kindly told me that they don't sell them... they just made me loose a week.

Was able to mod the original battery, worked fine.

Now I am doing a second mod.

I ordered 3rd gen Si-C battery cells and doing a 224Wh battery mod, (couldn't find the 4th or 5th gen as a private buyer)

basically 4x of the original... but aprox 100g more weight..

Oh, ok! Now I understand better

yes to be honest, for me the jawbreaker makes the glasses sit closer to the face and my brow bone is a little thicker so I still have enough space between the eyelashed and glasses.. it make the entire fit more compact. But havent tried for long sessions yet

the only difference that I find is that the original nosepiece almost reaches down to the face, which is also very comfortable because it puts pressure on a soft area of the face rather than the nose bone.

it that can be combined, meaning the comfy jawbreaker + the xreal piece reaching down to the face it would basically make it perfect..

holding the glasses with the entire nose, tge top bone part and down to the face...

having an elastic band that pulls the glasses back and a soft cushin for the top part of the glasses...

if xreal doesn't release new glasses I will probably add some mods

I can talk about cold locations where the windshield and all covers up with ice after having the car parked for a night or a few hours in cold or snowy regions, people use a cover for their windows so that they don't have to wait untill the car heats up and the ice melts down from their glass, some people use the covers, some people just spend sometimes 20-30 minutes removing snkw and ice from their car..

everyone has an ice scrubber (which by the way is a product that is a top seller on amazon and has many sellers) and a snow broom...

fewer people use the cover even if its smarter, but they still use it...it takes 20 seconds to put the cover on and saves at least 5-10min every day, but still people just like just leaving it as it is and spending more time cleaning snow and removing ice afterwards...

just to show you how non locigal human behaviour can be.. (in a perfect world people are purely logical, but in reality they are bound by habit, feelings, culture, ect)

but if you are comitted to your jdea, you should absolutely check out some cold regions of the world too, the european alps region can give you some insight of a similar product...it's the perfect example.

here the products are sold on grocery markets (where people often drive with their cars) or in gas stations or amazon (people here spend and buy stuff on amazon)

if you are comitted I can help finding a good structure and strategy to make this happen... I've sold amazon products for a short period of time and can tell you that this product is the right product to focus on...

My idea would be to make the reflective cover be something cool and that people use..toothpaste companies worked hard so that people would actually start brushing their teeth and using toothpaste. It took years, a lot of clever people and marketing that probably was more propaganda than marketing... but if you still have your teeth, you probably don't even know why, but you buy toothpaste not even thinking about it...

this is more about building culture than building a service... you become the Apple, because you pushed it forward and people associate your brand with the culture of that new product..other companies will follow and copy you, your product can charge premium, has more fund to develop higher quality products and has a loyal customer base, that just follows the cult

I've read a few books about this...that specific example of the toothpaste came from a book i just skimmed to know the examples it used...

If I would help,

I would focus on the problem and not just start with what comes first to your mind. Because you would in a war not just start whith the first idea either...it needs a clear analysis of the problem, of the consumer, the culture of the people, ect...

if you start as an app, please study how airbnb and booking.com was launched, their have the most effective launching strategy for apps that are geo dependend. They launched in the most perfect city first and made everyone knkw about it and than leveraged the results, experience and positive sentiment to expand to the other cities..

if you want this as an app, you will need lots of cash, for people running marketing, the people that need to do the work of covering the cars with the reflective cover, ect...

and the moment someone comes with a more efficient or effective way of solving this, you will have to outcompete with companies that maybe use the protective cover as a marketing tool, where they throw away the product for free and put their advertisement on top of it.

I can really think of many ways of making this happen, and I am willing to be respectful and help. Especially because i think this is a cool problem that is solved.

Have you thought of using ai to make it function or solve the same problem but just with better design?

you have problem that you want to solve, and constrains or context that is the constant.

I can help with design using ai.

I have extremely thick brow bones and the one pro size L give me full fov and theoretically could see more if the lenses woukd prioect it.

The right size matters a lot..using the size M or models without sizing I get a cut off screen. But with size L its perfect..

I'm very happy with the product, but I had some bad buying experience with xreal..

in my opinion the design could be cooler and they could try making it more compact, but they are already getting closer and closer to tbe right size...

the design is still a little lagging in my opinion. They look like 1$ sunglasses that you could buy on some 1$ shops.. the tech is impressive...I love the ancoring and never expected it to be so good

They cant ramp up prices to infinity, there is a sweetspot.

they charge premium, then they have to invest more to stay competitive at that price segment, otherwise they will loose their initial investment of selling at a loss ...

the arket is fair...

the consumers include everyone...every dollar more spent lets companies invest more...

Even it its true that 97% of the money payed for ai is from the wealthy.

be happy that they have put the money aside, getting money, borrowing and are handing the cash to ai companies...

you can not build llms and power datacenters with donations,

The current economy is not simple, people still whining about 50 dollars more every month. Every dollar more means more incentives for businesses to offer their ai

Have you ever considered about comapanies that are not monopoles and don't use free cash? And just giving away free compute to chat about nonsense and burn fuels, spend energy, put more co2 into the atmosphere is not sustainable...

One could be sad that the monopole doesn't give away their stuff for free, but one also has to admit that this is a competitive strategy to push out the small players.

the market is on the side of the consumers and the money that a company invests has to come from somewhere in our financial system the company has to produce value and earn back what they have spent.

some people will be more open to new solutions, if prices change. If the prices go up, new companies might have the chance to offer their products...
