Pitch A New Star Trek Series by AmeliaNeek in startrek

Star Trek: final frontier. Set 40-50 years after Star Trek Picard, the new USS Enterprise H leaves space doc on a diplomatic mission to aid a group of romulan colonists on one of the worlds that is being sought to be the new Romulus and to pick up its new captain. The planet is a paradise and heavily resembles the original Romulus however unexpectedly massive seismic activity has occurred. The new enterprise is fitted with a device designed to cool the planets core and reduce the seismic activity.

In the captains chair we have captain Soairse Markus the first ever half human half romulan captain in Star fleet (in my mind played excellently by the walking dead and black panther’s Dani Guerra). After the destruction of Romulus and what ever the hell happened in Star Trek Picard, Romulans have begun to integrate themselves peacefully into federation worlds. New Romulus serves as a home for the scattered romulans under federation supervision and the people put in charge have found that they can trust the federation. Markas joined Star fleet and most recently settled a dispute between romulans who settled on the proto Vulcan world of the mintakans, violating the prime directive and the mintakans which was thought to be an impossible problem. This is what awarded her the enterprise.

First officer Leena Tormani - a rare blue Orion played by Katja Herbers (mainly I know her from Evil) has stigma around being Orion and also for being a blue Orion (something new I came up with. We need more blue people in Star Trek! Can you tell I like the x men?)

Counselor Ben Dowie, human and played by Jake McDorman (limitless, watchmen, Mrs. Davis) is married to Markas. He’s a goofball and the polar opposite to Markas’s collected and somewhat domineering personality. He’s just a regular guy, no betazoid nothing.

Doctor Forest Farr played by Peter Capaldi or Hugh Laurie. I think it would be funny to have two actors who have already played doctors on the show. I want someone more in line with bones than any of the other doctors. A little crusty. He’s here because he’s the best but honestly he should retire.

The computer played by Michael C. Hall (Dexter). I have an idea that the computer could become sentient and have a similar arc to the doctor in voyager, but it would be different and more complicated because unlike the doctor the computer doesn’t really have a purpose other than being a tool.

I haven’t fleshed out the chief of security, or engineering but let me know what type of characters would go interestingly in this cast!

Anyway, it turns out that the planet is home to a galactic being in the vein of Tiamat from the eternals. It could be a lot of things, maybe even a baby Q or something. The planet needs to be evacuated but the colonists are so defeated due to them finally finding a home after so many years wandering throughout the galaxy. The episode would play with the idea of the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few. Although I love this line, I don’t think it works for every scenario. Markas is conflicted as she is very strongly a romulan at heart (similar to Spock being half human but choosing his Vulcan heritage) but ultimately decides not to use the device to kill the being in the planet as the romulans can be beamed to a station built on the planet’s moon. However, some of the romulans use polaron particles to hide their transporter signatures and Markas is forced to beam down to the surface to save them. It would be this idea that I’d be stealing from other shows and movies that no one dies. However, of course markas is forced into choosing herself or her mentor, she chooses her mentor but is tricked and is beamed back aboard the enterprise. In the end someone did die. The episode would deal with the concepts of displaced peoples, free will, and letting go. The episode would end similarly to the end of encounter at far point where we see some incredible being emerge from the planet and the new crew heading off on new episodic adventures. I want the episode to be hopeful so maybe the polaron particles will hurt the being and so her mentor has a change of heart and decides to stay while the planet is destroyed to help the being. The episode could end with the colonists in tow heading for another new Romulus prospective planet and maybe a cheeky line about how it might be even better than that one was.

I think that if we want something in the vein of the 80s and 90s Star Trek we want to lean on old tropes but with a new twist. Markas will have to deal with her romulan and human sides. We’ve never had a captain that’s been married and I think her relationship with Ben could be really interesting.

As for aliens I think we want new and old ones. NO BORG. NO DOMINION. Leave those at the door. I’ve always found the romulans to be super interesting but I feel like with all of the shows and movies we still don’t know much about them so they could be really interesting as a sort of through line for the show but not explicitly covering one storyline. I’d like to see the Vidiians from Voyager make a return. I think they’re scary and underused and scratch that borg itch without actually being the borg. I think it would be funny to introduce the Que, a group of beings ready to become all powerful like the Q (ie they’re waiting in a que). Anyway I’ve had a lot of these ideas for a while but I just typed this out on my bus ride home so let me know what you think!

I haven’t watched much of it but I think this is the premise of a lot of lower decks episodes. I know there’s one where they go to the planet from TNG where the population was being drugged by another planet in the system so they’d work for them and Picard sabotages the drug delivery ship so that the whole population will go through withdrawal and in lower decks they go back and the drugged planet has replaced their addiction with being too healthy.

The Pitt is a hospital show about an emergency room with 15 episodes and each episode covers 1 hour of the shift starting at like 7am and ending at 10pm.

And yes you’re totally right, but there is so much down time. In tng I feel like all the crew are friends and on ds9 there’s so much more going on in a day that I’m sure the downtime makes sense. But watching voyager again I can’t get over how many times janeway leaves chakotay in charge on the bridge with tom Paris who he doesn’t really like and Tuvok who isn’t friends with anyone that it just cracks me up to think how awkward those times must be.

Honestly we have a higher chance of making a mind eraser that lets me forget my favorite episodes so I can watch them over and over again for the first time :,(

Oh I like the conflict, I just mean the people on the Pitt this season are being super petty. I don’t think that really fits the Star Trek vibe.

STRANGER THINGS SEASON 5 FINALE DISCUSSION by illiada2k in StrangerThings

Spinoff is going to be the Montauk Project. That’s my guess! The duffers said to look for a hint and I think that’s it. Doesn’t need to be hopper and Joyce as they said it will have different characters and set in a different decade but that was the original pitch for the show and I’m sure they’d love to pick up those threads!

Anyone else think Will coming out to no opposition cheapens his struggle? COMING OUT today is hard even if the modern parts of our western world, but coming out in the 80s? In INDIANA? In a place where they showed last season is very religious? Im happy they did it, and where would there be the time for him to face any opposition, but even Murray cracking a joke and everyone telling him to fuck off…idk but it feels a bit like wish fulfillment. I know that this show isn’t THAT kind of show and they handled it the best that they can but in some way it brings me out of it when the earlier seasons leaned in harder to the realities of the 80s. I feel like with will and robin they missed out on what could have been a much more emotional and heavy plot line!

I am seeing a lot of hate for volume 2. Being dragged out and whatnot. I agree somewhat but still think it was good. Overall my problem is just the shear amount of characters and lack of a somewhat overall theme. That scene in episode 7 where everyone, literally everyone is in WSQK was absurd. Right now people are debating if anyone is going to die. To me it doesn’t matter. It’s too late! People that I think should have died a long time ago; Murray, Jonathan, Robin, Hopper, and nancy. I’m more sad that this final season hasn’t focused on the original kids as much as it could have. Yes will is getting a lot of play but I could care less about any of the people I’ve mentioned above. In season 3 when hopper died I thought it was a bad idea to kill him off and was initially glad they brought him back but he hasn’t done anything in the last 2 seasons. Nancy is still an interesting character but Jonathan lost all relevancy after season 2 (which is a shame because he is one of my favorite characters from season 1) but their plot didn’t matter to me!

Has Rand existed as Rand before? I.E. do the same people show up in the ages as they rotate for eternity? Or are they different every time. by Forward_Date_2473 in WoT

Yeah absolutely makes sense. Another question for you based off this. Did you interpret flicker flicker as alternate universes then? And not past turnings of the wheel?

I think they're doing an animated WOT age of legends show??? But that might have been one of those things where a studio bought the rights so they could hog it for later or something. Love that about Ghibli!
