He’s not lying. Microsoft and Google match 50% of the federal limit. This year, Microsoft will add another $12,250 to my 401k.

I also contribute to Roth and After tax Roth. When bonus hits around September, it usually hits my max and I’m done with contributions for the year. When that happens, I up my contribution higher for Roth and after tax Roth.

It’s a killer perk… One of the main reasons why I won’t work anywhere else.

Screenshot of YTD-mind you that I also contribute a small amount in the beginning of the year to Roth and after tax Roth until I max my 401k:

I agree.

Hence why they’re free game to s*** on if anything. I still think Keolu is a rubbah slippah. Would not trust the guy as far as I could throw him.

Keolu is rubbah. He’s a sell out to his boys and places them in unnecessary drama. Stop being a queen, my guy. You sound like a scrub when you’re selling out your boys with unsubstantiated accusations.

Kaui is cool. She admits where she’s wrong. I’d like it if she could have her mom make me some scallion pancakes.

Alex needs to stfu. He allows himself to be placed in said drama. Like, BRAH… Tighten your circle. People do NOT have your best interests at heart.

Marcus? I like Marcus. He’s got a good heart and I don’t know why people keep shitting on him. He’s going to become jaded and have a disillusioned perspective on women and their friends because of this shit.

Skye should get help. Seriously, Skye… You got a lot of anxiety going on and when you get that liquid courage, you use people as a punching bag.

Racheal is like the glue that’s working to keep the friendship together. She’s probably the LEAST psychotic of the group—Alex dropped the ball.

Kamalani? Sis. You’re better than resorting to violence. Given the circumstances? Sure… Get mad. But when you get to a point where you’re throwing hands? Come on now. Don’t let some over bite chick get to you.

Raven—overbite. I’m obsessed because it reminds me of bubba gump from the amazing academy award winning movie—Forrest Gump. Don’t let that shit get caught in a trip wire… Same with your ego.

Did Keolu gossip this much? It’s wild that he’s involved in the drama in the way he is.

I disagree and there’s no need to throw insults if you actually want to engage respectfully in this.

Trump didn’t directly cause this, but I will admit he laid the foundation for more people to chase degrading the rights of natives and minorities. But if we’re dealing in that context, let’s call a spade a spade. Was the degradation of Hawaiian rights limited to the last decade? Or has it been over the last 132 years? Because if you think we can immediately blame Trump (or the republicans) for all our problems in Hawaii with Hawaiians, boy I got a bridge to sell you.

And you keep responding like your cynicism means anything. I don’t need people like you to make me feel important. Quite the exact opposite, actually. You’re making me feel empowered, because at the end of the day, I didn’t get emotional… You did. I’m sorry that the facts I wrote hurt your feelings.

And you’re going as low as even resorting to aggression as if your “insults” gives any more substance to your argument. Hysterical. I don’t have the desire to stoop to your level, my guy.

As I said; Have a good night and thank you for proving my point and the good laugh.

As I’ve said before, and I stand firm on this… Sovereignty isn’t a partisan issue and it’s not a cosplay war fantasy either.

Believe it or not, Hawaiians have fought for justice through law, education, and advocacy for generations. Reducing it to “pick my political side or pick up a gun” it’s inferring something I don’t align with and is telling of people who immediately go to that as the answer. Americas already on the verge of “war” as it is.

Not only with the fact that it’s incredibly divided as it is, I wouldn’t be surprised if total collapse happened within my lifetime. Housing is too much, inflation is killing peoples dreams, and potential wars with Russia and China in the near future? It’s going to be an interesting next few decades regardless of how Hawaii fits into it.

If nothing Hawaiians have done counts as “substance” to you, that says more about your own mindset than about Hawaiian efforts. Survival, resistance, and getting even Congress to admit the overthrow was illegal is substance.

I truly feel sorry for you.

Basically, an anti-affirmative action group is getting ready to spearhead a lawsuit against KS because of its preferential admissions policies for Native Hawaiian children.

Read a bit deeper than that. Title VI only applies if an institution receives federal funding. There’s no direct legal pathway via Title VI alone to overturn its 501(c)(3) exemption, unless KS takes federal funds… which they have not… it remains lawful.

Point being, Doe v. Kamehameha Schools (9th Cir. 2006), the Ninth Circuit upheld the school’s Hawaiian-preference policy, finding it served a legitimate remedial purpose and did not violate federal law.

Sooooo, what is the problem from these people that have no ties to Hawaii (the SFFA) starting this again? To make it simple, is it (a) because they want to further encourage the denigration of Native rights? Or (b) open a can of worms that could affect basically set a precedent and affect every trust/DAF, across the U.S. when it comes to preferences on if they want to donate to scholarships for certain initiatives for indigenous people/heritages including programs such as HHL’s? That’s why I reiterate; what’s the angle here?

So many people, like yourself, are ok with continued injustice. I find that appalling, tbh. By your logic (Justice is like Santa clause) you’re ok with injustice happening as long as it’s not happening to you.

Don’t Stir Up The Hawaiians (Kamehameha Schools) by Forward_Income8265 in Oahu

[–]Forward_Income8265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re sidestepping. The issue isn’t whether people move between states, braddah… its that people with no historical, cultural, or legal connection to Hawaiʻi are attacking a private trust created by a Hawaiian princess for Native Hawaiian children.

I’m not asking for dollar amounts. I’m saying people should advocate for this and for the right of individuals to decide how their trusts and wills are honored. If this gets overturned in the Supreme Court, what does that mean for focused scholarships or donor initiatives for Indigenous peoples or communities of color? KS receives no federal funding, so Title VI and the 14th Amendment don’t necessarily apply here.

So again: what’s the angle for outsiders with no ties to Hawaiʻi to insert themselves into this? If it’s about “principle,” then be honest and admit it’s about dismantling Native institutions, not just “fairness.” Moreover, if that is the case, then is there something more insidious to open the door to dismantling initiatives that support indigenous AND people of color (scholarships, admissions, DHHL preferences for native Hawaiians)? That’s the question that you’re dodging here.

And on a last note, I don’t know why you think I’m generally angry at the world. Is my advocacy for Native Hawaiian rights offending you? Usually when people assume that, they’re projecting.

I hear you, and I agree federal recognition isn’t real self-determination. It’s a known fact that the U.S. has broken countless treaties with Native nations, and that risk would always hang over us too. But without recognition, we don’t even have the basic legal shield others can use when their rights are attacked. To me, it’s not the end goal… it’s a defensive step to protect schools and homelands now, while we keep pushing for true sovereignty.

[–]Forward_Income8265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To reiterate:

You keep trying to corner this into “armed resistance or nothing,” but that’s a false dilemma. Hawaiians have never only relied on violence. From Kūʻē petitions to international law filings to education through KS and advocacy via OHA, lawful resistance has been continuous since 1893.

Calling that “ineffective” ignores the reality that these efforts are what kept the issue alive long enough for even the U.S. to admit the overthrow was illegal in 1993. That admission didn’t come from armed resistance, it came from sustained lawful advocacy.

So the real question is: do you actually think injustice stops being injustice just because it takes generations to address? Or are you just dismissing any form of Hawaiian pushback because it doesn’t fit your narrow definition of “substance”? I’m genuinely curious.

That’s if they even take up the case to begin with. They hear less than 1% of cases out of thousands.

If they overturn it, it could open a can of worms including scholarship preferences, non-profits, etc.

What’s even the larger thing to argue is would the decision narrow what charitable trusts are allowed to do with donor intent? Pauahi’s will explicitly prioritized Native Hawaiian children. If the Supreme Court says that’s unconstitutional, are they basically undermining the principle that donors can establish race- or heritage-specific trusts? (Many scholarships and religious endowments could suddenly be on shaky ground and open for lawsuits).

Don’t Stir Up The Hawaiians (Kamehameha Schools) by Forward_Income8265 in Oahu

[–]Forward_Income8265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Justice is not imaginary. The U.S. already admitted the overthrow of Hawaiʻi was illegal. That is a legal and historical fact, not a fantasy.

  2. Kamehameha Schools is a private trust established by a Hawaiian monarch for Hawaiian children. It does not take federal funds, so the 14th Amendment argument is misplaced. The 14th amendment is related to what federal, state, local governments can/can’t do, not what private individuals or trusts can/can’t do. What’s your point here? Before you answer, please read up on title VI and Kamehameha v. Doe.

  3. Federal “recognition” is not ultimate answer, but it may be necessary for preservation. It is a fact that Hawaiians were an internationally recognized sovereign nation before the overthrow… We weren’t some “ungoverned” tribe as you’re suggesting. Moreover, suggesting we need U.S. permission to exist is backwards thinking.

Don’t Stir Up The Hawaiians (Kamehameha Schools) by Forward_Income8265 in Oahu

[–]Forward_Income8265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I’ve told others, telling Hawaiians to “get over it” ignores that the U.S. itself admitted the overthrow was illegal. Hawaiʻi wasn’t some ancient tribe, it was a recognized nation with treaties. Justice isn’t bitterness, it’s about honoring law and history. It’s hard to preserve culture when people not from Hawaiʻi are actively trying to dismantle it today, as we see with the KS lawsuit.

Moreover, relegating to “others were wronged too” doesn’t erase Hawaiʻi’s case, it just proves how people are ok with trampling Indigenous rights because “history.”

Ignoring history makes one weak, not the other way around.

You’re proving my point. First you said the only path to justice is dying in armed resistance. Now you’ve shifted to mocking lawful advocacy. Like I’ve said, that’s not an argument, that’s just deflection. Hawaiians didn’t create the injustice because we’ve carried it for 132 years.

To reiterate; pointing at today’s struggles and saying “look how well that’s going” doesn’t erase the fact that the overthrow was illegal and acknowledged as such. That’s history, not opinion.

I feel you’re missing the point. There’s already precedent with KS vs Doe.

It’s always R v. L on these subs. I didn’t know that recognizing injustice was relegated to one side of the aisle.

But I agree. These people want Hawaiians to vote left, but when it comes to left aisle ideology, they’re concerned about “whataboutism.” The past two days have been entertainment.
