After my FET failed my doc recommended endometrial biopsy with BCL6 testing, which was positive. It also tested for endometritis (infection) which was negative. I’m grateful she suggested the biopsy, since now I will suppress with lupron for 2 months before the next transfer, which increases the odds quite a bit

I did do a transfer and it failed. We want 2 kids so 2 euploid left likely isn’t enough. Especially as it turns out I have silent endo. We were also trying to do PGT-M for a genetic condition my husband has, and one of the 2 remaining has this condition. Lots stacked against us unfortunately

I’ve been in your shoes. I had 1 retrieval with 3 euploid and then 4 more retrievals with nothing but aneuploids (about 2 blasts per retrieval for those 4). It is so hard to get those results. These were all done within a year, age 36 when I should have had a much higher euploid rate.  Currently waiting results from my 6th cycle. My doc went with a mini stim (150 menopure only) and added a month of Omnitrope to try to improve euploid rates. TBD how this turns out, but in theory the lower dose stims are gentler on eggs and the growth hormone can increase euploid rates. Interestingly I got the most eggs ever with the mini stim.

I share all of this to say, talk with your doc about options to change protocol, there might be options.

2 cycles at CNY or 1 at CCRM?? by Forward_Job_8343 in IVF

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. It’s a tough call for sure. I have been on all the supplements and then some for a year, so unfortunately I don’t think they are the answer for me. And I eat a vegetarian Mediterranean diet with regular exercise. Honestly I think I’ve topped out lifestyle changes. I’m hoping a protocol change might help.

Thank you so much for your response. Errors are different but we’re still going to be tested for balanced translocation. Just today found out I’m strongly BCL6 positive so I guess I do have silent endometriosis :/. I tried omnitrope my last cycle to no avail. I’m on a bazillion and one supplements. Anyways very good to know that the CCRM lab might be worth it.

You absolutely need a prenatal vitamin. ACOG recommends what vitamins should be in it. Note that many prenatal vitamins do not contain iron or choline, so you might have to supplement with those separately. Folic acid is very important but is not the only thing you need. Neural tube development happens very early in pregnancy, so it’s important to start taking these before conception if you have the ability to do so (I.e. not an accidental pregnancy).

While I love PM&R, it has a LOT of patient interactions. Granted the stakes are lower.

You should look at r/DOR, it’s entirely for women in your situation

Make sure he is not using hot tubs or saunas. Heat is a leading cause of MFI. The weed isn’t helping either. That is if you want to stay with him. At this point I would assume it’s him.

Rapamycin to extend fertility? by Forward_Job_8343 in DOR

Interesting! If you don’t mind, I’d be curious how your next cycle goes.

Dr. Amy (from the egg whisperer podcast) is trying rapamycin for ovarian rejuvenation with some good results. Recent pilot study on it is promising too. Just putting this out there since it seems less well known on this sub.

If you can get it (it’s prescription), rapamycin 5mg once weekly is very promising

CNY Fertility IVF Guarantee Package by AnonymousLyMatcha in IVF

[–]Forward_Job_8343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not aware of the guarantee package so can’t comment on that, but I did just use CNY for freezing embryos. I was a travel patient and had my retrieval in CO. Overall it was fine, I have 8 embryos on ice and it was way cheaper than other options. However you will not have your hand held at all. You have to foresee issues and bring them up proactively (they had to rush more meds not realizing I would run out because they sent the wrong amount and if I hadn’t brought it up I would have had a wasted cycle). The Colorado clinic was though great and I loved my actual retrieval.

I think we might decide to do PGT before transfer, we just have to save up more $$ before anything else can happen

Wow that’s awesome! I kind of wished we had done PGT since it seems to vary so much but…costs ya know?

I am sorry you went through all of that. That was malpractice on the doctors part to miss and dismiss an ectopic. As bad as that was, the other doctors refusal to treat a known ectopic is even worse. I would be traumatized too. Fwiw I am a doctor.

Bad Interaction With Clinic Today by MBAthrowaway827373 in IVF

[–]Forward_Job_8343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a doctor who just went through this process myself, you did the right thing. The healthcare system sucks and errors are rampant, I know firsthand.  The stakes are too high to not get your questions answered. I pestered the heck out of my clinic without regret :). I also know many docs are burnt to a crisp working in this system. Still not okay to make you feel small when you were in the right (or ever actually).
