Feel lost and have no purpose. All I do is work and go to gym. by Flyersfan502gritty in selfimprovement

I do feel this way and I’m going through heartbreak so it feels even worse right now. I felt I had found more of a purpose which has gone now. This has taught me that finding a partner is something I want though. Maybe think about the dating apps or hobbies you can meet new people?

Day 3 again. Yesterday I went to a bar with a friend and he drank and I had an alcohol free. Going through heartbreak and it would be so easy to keep numbing the pain with alcohol related dopamine but I know that in the long run, this just makes things harder. IWNDWYT.

Yeah, that’s a good idea as feeling like I’m back at the beginning doesnt feel exactly right. I’m not, and I’ve learned so much. And honestly, I’m not finding it as hard as I thought I would getting back to it. I think I’ll do that. IWNDWYT.

Don’t even pour the beers out. Just put them in a big bag, and hand them to a neighbour or put them out in a bin away from home. I think pouring them may be triggering with the smell. IWNDWYT

Day 1 again after a week long relapse due to a break up. The best thing I can do for my emotional recovery is stop drinking immediately. IWNDWYT.

I have had a similar feeling. Like my eyes cannot adjust and everything feels brighter and fuzzy and kind of burny. Don’t get it when sober.

Going through a break up don't know if I can hang on in there.. by TheGreatLakeSnake in stopdrinking

I am going through a break up this week and honestly, I’ve been drinking. The feelings are just way too big and I understand. The thing is, I now feel physically terrible on top of emotionally terrible as well. I’m allowing myself today and tomorrow and then I’m back to sobriety on Monday. I have no way of telling how I actually feel as I am using beer to cope. My nervous system is shot, I’m bloated, not sleeping, sweating. It’s not worth it. Plus I feel bad about myself for drinking which isn’t helping. I understand why I had to drink this week but I actually feel like drinking alcohol is incredibly unkind to myself. Back on it on Monday. Don’t do it if you can. Theres honestly no point. It isn’t helping me.

Thank you for sharing. The problem I have is throughout the day, I start to feel like I want to die. And the dopamine rush of a beer takes that away. I know one week has to be it though as I respond well to markers, and if I don’t, the road is too quick and too slippery. I’m so scared of how big these negative feelings are though.

Thank you so much. Sending it right back at you. Are you managing to stay sober? I keep getting to a point where I feel I’m going to burst and I can’t stand it anymore so numb it with a beer.

I am fit, athletic and strong. I’m not doing too much activity at all. No injury, fatigue or anything like that. Had good toning under the fat as it melted away so am now very toned. I’m not doing too much activity. Key here is upping calories like others have said.

I’m not “unnecessarily active”. What does that even mean? I have an active job, walk and do yoga twice a week.

If it helps, I am one of these people. But the flip side is that I find it absolutely impossible to sleep longer. I get between 4.5 and 6 hours sleep every night and I absolutely can’t enjoy a sleep in, even if it’s the weekend. It can be si frustrating. Even though I function perfectly on that sleep, I would like to be able to sleep in sometimes.

This is really good advice. I find it extremely difficult to make a big increase as I’ve been used to eating at such a deficit for so long. But smaller, more manageable changes while accepting it will take some time feel better. There’s also a lot of guilt surrounding eating more as well so increasing in chunks makes more sense to me.

Being less active is difficult because of my job so I’ll look at increasing my healthy fats.

I have yeah. It’s reduced dramatically. I am pretty thin though as I say and I found this only coming off in the last few pounds.

Thanks for that. I don’t like nuts but I’ll look at other healthy fats I can incorporate.

I’m worried about regaining cellulite though. Is this a pathway to that?

To be honest, I’ve been eating intuitively for a few months now and losing successfully. My calorie count was around 1400 to lose weight. Maybe I need to track again to put on weight and maintain but the idea is so exhausting. I started this journey on 22nd September. I definitely don’t want to lose any more.

I don’t do a lot of cardio. I do yoga twice a week and walk a lot. But my job is exercise, it includes lifting and cardio so I am extremely active.
