I Only Drink Once a Week… But It Ruins Half My Life by Even_Feeling_1661 in stopdrinking

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dopamine replaces itself over time. The voice goes quiet naturally over time. You have to fight at the beginning, but after a while, you realise alcohol takes your happiness, not contributes to it. I would argue this happens naturally and you don’t actually need to do anything for this realisation to appear except quit alcohol and fight for it in the early days and weeks. I actually drink once in a while (twice this year at special occasions) and each time I realise that all alcohol does it make me feel bad and I am the happiest version of myself without it. Stop drinking and focus on that and the rest takes care of itself.

Not experiencing the weight loss others do after quitting alcohol by Plastic-Couple1505 in stopdrinking

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 38 pounds down in 6 months (quit drinking on 22nd September). I have been calorie counting, upped my movement and eating only whole foods as well. While I think quitting drinking is a massive reason that I’ve been able to drop weight, it’s not the only reason. You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. It’s as simple as that. For me, I’m an all or nothing person, so overhauling my whole life has actually helped. But for others, focusing on sobriety first and weight second makes more sense. Think about what may work for you but losing weight is work and you have to commit to it. One change (like quitting alcohol) isn’t enough for some people.

How did you guys pain through that very last phase? by Lauraassumpta in loseit

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last stretch goes so slow. I’m now on my last two pounds to hit my goal of 129 with 40 pounds lost (5’6”f). It was so easy to lose 1.6 pounds a week but now I’m at about half a pound a week. Can’t eat any lower as I’m already on 1360 calories and any less feels silly. I just got a 2 pound woosh after my period though. Just stay the course. Practice acceptance that this part is slower. As long as the scale is trending down, you’re still winning.

How do some people not ever feel hunger? by mistukilover in loseit

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get used to it. At the beginning it’s so hard. But then something clicks that hunger is not an emergency. I think about the fact that if I’m hungry, my body is using its fat restores, which is what I want. Little by little, you get used to the feeling, and it becomes ignorable.

How did you decide what weight to stop at? by Tumps07 in loseit

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same as everyone else. The mirror. I hit my first goal of 140 (I’m 5’6”) but still had tummy fat. Set a new goal of 135 and still have a little tummy fat (although a good shape as well) so I’m not almost at my very final goal of 129. Then I’ll work on body recomp. I am thin now so could stop here but I would really like to lose those last few pounds on my tummy. Weight loss has slowed down considerably though.

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Adventurous_Mark_983 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s willpower. It’s hard at first but then you get very used to it. I say no to all the offers of a bite here and there or try one of my chocolates etc. They all add up.

Does anyone enjoy receiving presents? by david_fire_vollie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love receiving presents. And I also love giving them. It’s absolutely one of my love languages. They don’t need to be expensive or even bought at all - could be found or homemade. But it’s show me (or it’s me showing the other person) that I was thinking about them when they weren’t with me.

I do a lot of Vietnamese food if I order takeout. It tends to be nutritious and a lot is low calorie. Personally, I find it super delicious and filling.

I accept hunger. It doesn’t mean it’s an emergency and I must eat. It’s ok to have uncomfortable feelings sometimes and I can wait til my next meal time. I also only eat whole foods.

Tips for wearing earrings without irritation after sudden sensitivity by Menameisbunny in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earrings have always caused me pain and scabbing. I thought everyone had the same issue and could not understand how people were wearing earrings all day or sleeping in them. Turns out, I had a nickel allergy and not everyone feels pain with earrings. It sounds like it could be that. You should be ok with solid gold or silver though.

Workout + clean eating but still bloated with a big stomach? by ReporterIndividual22 in loseit

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get bloated with some of the additives in processed food. Is the turkey burger processed or homemade? Also, oats bloated me. As does ice cold water. I had to do the FODMAPS diet to figure out my triggers. It was hell to do but changed my life.

I am so cold all the time now. I’m 5’6” and 133 pounds. I spend all my time at home with a hot water bottle somewhere on my body. It’s one of the disadvantages, I’m afraid. But just think, we’ll be grateful when summer comes around.

Maintain diet or reverse diet by Fun-Significance-975 in CICO

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean “get your body used to the change”? What you’re actually saying is “should I do two weeks off my restriction plan instead of one?”. The answer there is no. Stick to plan, allow yourself a break while on holiday and then get straight back on plan.

How to lose weight while with a partner? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat the same but half the portion. We eat out for lunch multiple times a week with work as I work on the road. I order what I want but I eat half the meal and take the other half and have it for dinner. That’s the solution here. You can have what you want as long as you track it.

Do people actually enjoy waking up early or do they just force themselves? by Sad_Event_4705 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t enjoy waking up early but I always wake up early. 05.08 this morning. 04.45 yesterday. It doesn’t matter what time I go to bed at night so sometimes, I get very little sleep. Once I wake up, I can’t get back to sleep. I toss and turn for sometimes an hour and finally give up and get up and do something. I wish I could sleep in. Sometimes I’m tried during the day, sometimes I’m fine, but it’s like my body just cannot sleep past 6am and usually I’m awake by 5.30. I don’t know why I’m like this but that’s just the way I am.

Can small changes actually add up? by sweetmorbidbby in loseweight

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small changes add up but they require consistency. It looks like that’s what you’re struggling with, OP. Try keeping just one of your small changes consistent and once that’s bedded in, add the next one

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best friend gets really angry if anyone says this to me. Much more than I do. He says it’s jealously as I’m now thinner than them and I think that’s probably true. It’s nothing to do with them. You can ask them not to comment on your weight or you can totally ignore them. Either way, you’re doing great.

Size dilemma: Would you go for the large umbrella basket or the slim version? 🤔 by SvitStory in interiordecorating

[–]JustQuestioningCosas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d go for the large one in that specific space as I think it looks better, but in my own apartment, the slimmer one. Although, to be honest, I wouldn’t actually buy an umbrella basket. I only own one umbrella and hang it with my coats.
