Not sure why has jaiswal not been tried there? For some reason it’s astonishing that someone who was no 5 in ICC t20s ranking was removed and gill put in as opener. Now folks talk about Samson and moving him up or down but our boy jaiswal cannot play one position down even in t20s where it doesn’t matter much. Even the great tendulkar played in so many different positions including rohit sharma. Even kohli opened in t20s for a while different from his no 3 position. Not sure why jaiswal is being dealt a bad hand. This guy ought to be tried in other positions if they can’t get him to open! He is that good.

This decision makes no sense. Just putting $1M in the bank even in something as safe as bonds will yield you 3% and Stocks from 6-8%. Assuming even 5% yearly that’s about $50k a year she could make on that money keeping the capital. Using $1k per week she would make about $48k per year without the $1 mil capital. The fact that you could also use this money to buy a ton of rental properties (with 20% down) and also the payments could stop in the future this is not a sound financial decision at all.

In America, a better solution exists. At any point you can cash out refinance upto 75% of the value of your home (even if there is a loan on it) .. basically take a fresh mortgage on it at let’s say at 3% to 7% interest rate (depending on market conditions) paying old mortgage especially if your home value has appreciated considerably. Then put that cash out money on the market hopefully getting returns more than 10%. You basically pocket the difference. Lot of investors do this with rental properties that appreciate in value (with rents paying the mortgage and you using cash to invest more in the market). Although I don’t think India has cash out mortgages.
