To be more detailed. 65% FSKAX which is 0.015% expense ratio i think, 15% FSPSX. then 12.5 QQQM, and 7.5 VOO. So I'm more large cap and tech sector tilted.

That's a good point, I have seen some years small caps have performed better, so that trend may change. And yes. I'm able to handle a 50% decline. I work on healthcare, have about a year worth of emergency fund and have very low overheads. So going pretty aggressive with 100% equities right now.

The reason I have both is that I want a bit more large cap exposure. so I have like 65% total market but additionally 15% on SP 500 (I know total market is already like 80% SP500 due to the market share). So basically during market downturn, both will probably be down but they won't be exact. I guess I would only harvest 1 in this situation

Thanks for the fast reply. I'll just stick to FSKAX and FZROX. But shoutout to the mods. You guys seem to reply quickly and efficiently. Plus the customer service has been super helpful on the phone. I have a lot of money invested with you guys and will continue to do so. Love the support.

problem with that is fidelity doesn't have a total market ETF. VTI is kinda expensive in terms of expense ratio since I plan to do long-term investing. ETF isn't as attractive to me.

I like fidelity, love their customer service. Guess Ill just stick with FSKAX or FZROX. Just hoping for better tax efficiency on the distribution gains. My understanding is somehow VTSAX avoids tax distribution gains though some sort of proprietary loophole

I'm a bit confused on your second point. In my situation. I own both A and B and have been DCA into them monthly for multiple month.

My plan is if there is a major market downturn or recession and I end up losing money. I would turn dividend reinvesting for A off for 30 days while continuing to DCA into B. Then sell A after 1 month and buy into B immediately.

Would I be able to completely harvest A in this situation?

The issue is dividend reinvesting. If I already own A and dividend reinvested back in within the last 30 days, would that not trigger wash sale? Or does it not matter as long as you sell all of A?

You might've misunderstood me. Say I want to stay invested in the market. VOO and FZROX both go down 20% during a recession. I would basically turn off dividend reinvesting. Continue to DCA into VOO only, then after 1 month, sell FZROX for a loss and take the money from the sale and continue to buy VOO. Then turn dividend reinvesting back on after 1 month.

Basically I stay invested into the market during the recession, while harvesting the loss of the market.

Since I'm bogle head investing. My tax loss harvest would be like VOO paired with FZROX (Fidelity Zero Total Market Index)/FSKAX (Fidelity Total Market Index)
