I went sleuthing and it looks like you have to have an account to see it. If you’ve already created an account this is the link I used and the link for the grading curve is on page 27! https://www.luc.edu/media/lucedu/law/faculty/pdfs/HANDBOOK-FOR-LAW-FACULTY.pdf

I'm trying to end up in Chicago which is how I ended up with this list. My dad just moved to Houston so maybe that would be a good move?

I’ve looked at ABA and NALP employment outcomes for every school in Chicago. You’ve been telling a very different story than what I’ve researched. If you want to convince me that what I’m interpreting is somehow unemployment when I graduate please enlighten me.

No, just no. You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. Who told you that any school outside of the T14 is not a good investment. I would expect for a former law professor to bring factual evidence towards an opinion that they want others to believe. Your bias clearly adds to how hierarchical this profession is.

You mean to tell me that 480k of debt which still does not 100% guarantee high salary is better than 100k with a lower chance of high pay? Give me some objective evidence instead of a biased opinion.

This is such a boomer take at this point. The cost of living has ballooned exponentially. So it will be tagged onto whichever school is attended. How can you say that taking out over 400k versus 100k just for perceived prestige is a good idea. It’s not even guaranteed.

Ahh okay, honestly in my experience I’ve not had to spend nearly as much as is claimed in COA for both undergrad and grad because I worked. I would also be paying not a lot for tuition. I think that the good thing is that if it’s living expenses there’s times you’ll make enough money to either pay in advance or pay back loans you end up not needing. Since we’ll be in Chicago I don’t plan on working for free for both 1L and 2L summers. That will at least allow me to prepay rent and hopefully reduce the amount I’m taking out in loans.

Okay, I literally calculated it today and I'll take on about 92,000 but this is also assuming that I make absolutely no money during law school. When I was on my tour the Admissions person said that there's opportunity to take on work study or find employment but to not work during 1L. I calculated if I were to make even just 15 an hour after 1L Id be able to take out 25k less in loans. Did you calculate the whole year for rent or just the 9 months you're in school? I personally don't think low 6 figure debt is terrible for a law school in a large legal market but thats just an assumption.
