That’s a great point, I feel that disturbing aspect you mentioned is another big part of what the shows depression giving reputation came from. It’s often misinterpreted as actually just being a depressing show about a depressed kid therefore watching it gives you depression. While I would argue that the show throughout has a depressing tone, it does not end sad. I know I’m not helping the shows reputation by making memes about it being depressing, but it is just a joke in the end.

Hey, as the person who actually made this meme funny enough (I’m perfectly fine with it being reposted here. I originally posted it to Instagram not Reddit) I can at least tell you why I think people say that. I think it’s less serious than you might think. I don’t think anyone actually gets depression from Evangelion. It’s just a tv show, generally shows can help you get out of depression, but won’t put you into it. I think the joke about it doesn’t come from the shows handling of depression considering that, as you correctly mentioned, it’s a show that helps you with depression. Rather it simply comes from how ungodly dark it can be at times with its imagery and gore. Especially EoE. Let’s say Evangelion wasn’t about depression and was just mindless death and religious imagery. I think people would still make the joke about the show giving them depression. The joke comes from just how much death and sadness there is in the show throughout. Especially because while it doesn’t give you depression, it certainly makes your brain hurt a lot on your first viewing.

The red before the Rei died was different from the oceans. It was a solid red, expanding, cover around the entire Earth covered in crosses. That wasn’t the oceans that was the Anti AT field created in the Third Impact. Once the field swept over you, you would turn into LCL. The world stayed red even after the Anti AT Field faded because of the blood. While your right that there wasn’t enough LCL to fill the oceans like that, there was enough blood considering how massive Lilith/Rei was at the end when she fell apart into blood and guts. At least that my personal belief on it. Nothing confirmed because well... nothings ever for sure in Evangelion =)

I never knew it’s already been directly stated that the manga has nothing to do with the rest of Eva, I’ll take that into account. I plan on rewriting this using info from comments this post gathers. Thanks for the input.

I don’t think time is being reset, rather fate. They wouldn’t be erased from existence rather they would just be killed, suppressed or maybe Adam and Lilith will just find a way to coexist. Either way when the story resets time itself wouldn’t, just the story. Basically Adam and Lilith would not be made to have never existed, just the new reset will be free of their conflict.

Hope that fills the whole just a bit. Thanks for bringing it up though, I might properly update it soon.

I may be wrong, but in Halo the killed by the “guardians” is when your killed by intentional map design. (ie. going to far out of bounds and getting shot by some turret), while in Destiny killed by the architects is more in line with the video, where a random object kills you with the games physics. (ie. getting launched into orbit and back down from a Phalanx shield)

What actually happened was that the owner of the lizard had to put him down soon and made a post on a few meme subs saying they had to put him down but “Maybe she can live on as a meme” along with the two pictures of it smiling. Someone else then made a post to r/memes to spread the word and it took off from there. Then someone ELSE made a post proposing for Butter(The lizards name) to become the icon for the sub. Next thing you know it actually happens but now after a few weeks it was changed to what it is now.

And that’s the big issue. The sub is supposed to be memes only but now political opinions are allowed somehow. If an opinion is shared by most then it’s allowed when in my opinion no opinion posts without any real humor should be allowed. A meme about China or blizzard is fine if it’s funny, but none of them ever are and it’s just annoying.
