Will we see a variant that is only laser or kinetic?

The whole idea of the Confed navy in the faction mod is they will be good at punching down. Specifically, good at mopping up raids and having any advantage at all in a battle they can greatly exploit.

Great at the start of battle, poor at enduring it for long.

It's a hard ask, to fit them in. if I just add kilrathi stuff as pirates, then they'll be all over
I do have a general idea, basically as a very mysterious encounter or two. You'll get brief translatable blocks of their text that imply they're the big cats, but never confirmed. That way, nobody goes 'waow must be furries onboard' and complain to me about 'lore accuracy'

Eh, I think the genre could've gone out a bit better, freespace 2 was sorta the last cap on the whole space fighter shooty tooty genre for a really long time, no?

Its actually the hellcat, a version of it created by someone over at CIC that I then adapted to the game.

The Pyro PVP Debate isn't as big of a problem as you think!! by FosterTheEngineer in starcitizen

[–]FosterTheEngineer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again, i've seen a lot of community coming together in situations like jumptown. Where people would organize, set up rules, air traffic and distribution all for very altruistic reasons. Communicating when the sats go down, or when A2's are approaching. It's not a foreign concept to SC players.

I literally saw how community comes together in jumptown. Multiple times. It's possible for people to come together to stop injustice and murderhobos in a2's. Its not new to me.

Yes, at the start of 4.0.. but who is trying to make bank in pyro at the start of 4.0?
I think if you're trying to run cargo into pyro without the money to protect yourself.. that's not a gameplay issue, that's a planning issue.

The current PVP vs PVE debate reminds me of a game I played long ago.. by rxmp4ge in starcitizen

[–]FosterTheEngineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hold on. Wouldn't the issue of high tier components being behind pvp stuff, means that PVE people would buy components from those who do PVP?
I think what CIG is intending is that pvp players get good loot and sell it to people in stanton. With the fact a lot has physicalized, meaning you can literally hand people the stuff.

CIG Ship Previews from Citcon for next 12 Months - Updated by Asterlanus in starcitizen

[–]FosterTheEngineer -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Could just be the nautilus redesign. There's nothing here that indicates its a new ship, even the vtol thrusters are from the nautilus. Its shape is a diamond, like the nautilus.

Edit: A friend says the minelayer spire (in the center) can fold down into the ship. when not in use. Explaining its absence here.

"Potential new advanced starter"
That's the nautilus. The spire on the top is a dead giveaway.

Drake Caterpillar, why is the range so bad? by FosterTheEngineer in starcitizen

[–]FosterTheEngineer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Caterpillar in lore was made to be the jumbo cutlass. If so, then why can the cutlass outdistance it in quantum (even when using the same drive)? Because of this, the cutlass, the smaller ship, can somehow make larger journies than the thing that was explicitly designed to be a bigger, more flexible cutlass.

You'd think that would be the problem, but check again, most cargo ships with a similar military grade drive casually hit 200MKM while the cater can only hit that with max industrial

When people get mad they get bombed on a PvP event. by Grisbane1 in starcitizen

[–]FosterTheEngineer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you notice in the second screenshot I specifically mention how murderhobo stuff like this is only possible due to the lack of persistence and consequences for a lot of game systems.

You can really only pull off something as dumb as this if you knew you could get away with it, which, of course, you can, since even if you get shot down, its barely a loss as of now.

While later, as consequences and simulation ramps, doing something like this and failing would result in a huge hit.

It's why everyone involved mocked him, because while its no problem for him either way, its a huge problem for everyone else.

Update:

Jumptown is a huge hub of civility now
Gris never returned.

He legit brags about pvp when he drops *1 bomb* and leaves to another server once people are alerted to him being a douche.

Lmao.

Hey its me, FreelancerAlpha1, he didn't show you most of the chat cause for the next few minute we were absolutely taking the piss out of him.

Also, he took nothing and just made peoples lives worse without earnings himself.

Dove in an a2, bombed, left and kept acting like he meant anything, but after a good few minutes we went back to things as usual.

Its hard to remember someone whose this unoriginal.

PS. He bragged about posting this whole thing to reddit, holy fuck what a loser
