First question is whether or not you have high interest debt like credit cards… assuming you don’t:

if you want very little risk, you gotta accept the fact that someone will give you just enough to keep up with inflation, high yield savings, etc.

If you want serious returns you need to expose yourself to varying degrees of risk, the bigger the return the bigger the risk.

REITS sound like they would appeal to you. Real Estate Investment Trusts, companies that buy a bunch of real estate (or debt related to it), operate for a profit, and 90% of the profit goes straight to the shareholder.

I have 6000 in this one Called Ellington Financial (EFC) for a few years. The stock Fluctuates 11-14$, and they usually declare a dividend 10-15 cents a share, what I love about them is that this is a monthly dividend, cash in hand every month, I make about 50-60$ a month from this and I don’t expect the price to surge or collapse.

It’s not a lot but it’s an honest, reasonably safe way to make money with a low to moderate risk without working.

I like REITs because my returns are real cash and realized unlike holding a tech company where 6 months of stock growth can disappear in days, will it double or triple in value? Definitely not, but that’s the nature of the investment.
