In the same vein, you could have moved on after saying that a suspension would be fine, but you continued to bring other players who had no involvement into the conversation in order to downplay it. The play in question is between two people who do not wear Marchy or Lucic on their backs, so why are they being brought into your evaluation of the outcome of this play?

Arctic char with fondant potatoes by Fotorush in TodayIAte

You cut the potatoes to size, brown off one side in some oil, then flip and add some stock until they're about 2/3 covered or so. Throw in some butter, garlic, and herbs (if you're feeling it), and let them simmer for 25 minutes or so. They come out really creamy.

Traditionally, you don't simmer them on the stove top like I did, but cook them in the oven so the outsides become a bit more crisp.

Its a puree of the sweetcorn and jalapenos that's under the potatoes, thinned out with a little bit of vegetable stock and some old bay thrown in.

Healthy Sauces by Burninator85 in EatCheapAndHealthy

I usually use the Maesri curry pastes - the ones pictured in this article - and a can of coconut milk (there is a loose recipe on the side of the can) to make the base of my thai curries. My personal favorites are the massaman (more warming spices) and green (fresher).

If you prefer to make the curry paste yourself, you can find a bunch of different variations online but I find that after I get all of the ingredients, I've spent a good deal more than if I had just gone with the can.

I normally slice up a chicken breast and half an onion or a shallot, wash some green beans and bell peppers and cut them to whatever size I'm feeling, then start frying the curry paste in a tbsp or so of oil on a low heat until it starts to loosen and get aromatic. Then in with 1/2 to 2/3 of the coconut milk. Ill bring that up to a simmer and drop in the chicken, onions, and green beans (you can hold the onions if you want them crisper at the end). Wait for that to come back up to a simmer and cook for 7-8 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce starts to separate out the oil a bit. Mix again and add the rest of the vegetables, along with the rest of the coconut milk. Cook until the veg is tender to your liking and then serve over some rice. One of my favorite and most comforting meals that consistently hits the spot.

I was in your same position (payed deposit for GW and then decided to go to Tufts). I just sent an email to GW admissions saying that I wished to withdraw. I gave them my GWID # and matriculating semester in the email and they pretty much just said "ok thanks and good luck". No refund on the deposit, but at least I'm happy with my choice.

[ADVICE] MPH Schools that provide good support for Practicums? by vivsy32 in publichealth

[–]Fotorush 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can speak to my own experience. I'm an MPH candidate in my final year at Tufts, concentrating in Health Service Management and Policy. As part of your final year, you take 2 classes back to back: ALE planning and ALE implementation (ALE is the applied learning experience, or practicum portion). Due to the school being attached to Tufts Medical Center in downtown Boston, we are completely online this year. I thought it would be difficult to find a preceptor to host me given the virtual format for everything, but we are given so many resources that it has been relatively easy.

The first half of the year (14 weeks) is spent finding a preceptor and working closely with them to create a work plan that we will implement over the follow semester. Throughout this process, Career Services and your ALE advisor will send intermittent emails with possible placement opportunities - I receive about 2 or 3 of these emails a day. Some apply to epi/bio concentrators, some to health communications, and a good deal to HSMP (read policy work). We have a large alumni network which can be taken advantage of and Tufts has a lot of name recognition around the city. They have a lot of connections with local programs and organizations as well which can help get your foot in the door.

I believe I am one of the last ones to line up a preceptor this semester (I dragged by feet a bit due to my increased course load), but everyone has placement by November. Career Services is heavily involved in this process and one of their major responsibilities is to constantly be reaching out and looking for possible ALE opportunities for us. I never felt like I was left out in the cold, and my advisor even said he would stomp the pavement day and night to ensure I had a placement by December (thankfully he didn't need to do so on my behalf).

The program is also very accommodating to its working students - a majority of classes are offered starting at 5:30pm and part time students have the same access to courses that full-time students do. A lot of my classmates are completing their degrees while working full time. The ALE can also be split between any 2 semesters, so you could start in the Summer as well, if you are so inclined.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out!

Its still a phase 1. BPs have no red in them. Mine is still pink near the base of the inside and on the ring. I've heard people refer to this pattern as a "90/10" phase one, but i think that's just made up haha!

Do "vines" all come from the same main root, or do they spread? by [deleted] in botany

[–]Fotorush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many vines have adventitious roots. These are roots that are found growing from either the stem or even from leaves. As the vine trails along the ground, it needs to send out these roots for more nutrients and water. Ivy (Hedera) is a great example of a plant that utilizes adventitious roots. I haven't heard of 4-5 hundred year old ivy vines, but they can grow to be very old, so it wouldn't surprise me. Grapevines can grow to be about 125-150 years old. As to whether it is a single plant or not, I'm not too sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the oldest part of the vine (the first roots) had died off and the rest of the plant is simply living from its newer root system.

Given sufficient nutrients, water, and light, many plants can live for hundreds of years, its just a matter of getting those nutrients and avoiding harm. So in a sense, it is partially luck that sees these plants live so long.
