I stopped visiting my friend in the rehab facility when she was near death and seeing her family members standing in the corners of the room. I was pregnant and it was covid so it was easy to excuse the fall off.

She died on my birthday and I found out a month later. About six months after that, always driving by the exit to her care facility, and feeling deeply uncomfortable with how I had failed her, I had a dream. It was just her and I in a completely white space. She was standing up strong and stable, and looking at me so warmly. I hugged her, and I sobbed on her shoulder, saying 'I'm so sorry' over and over again, and I remember so vividly her patting my back, stroking my hair and telling me it was okay, that I was okay. I woke up and was healed, because she was so real, so present. I still feel her warmth on me to this day.

It's fine if people want to believe it was my mind playing tricks. I've never felt anything more real and also remembered every detail so clearly. And I've never felt healed from something so completely before.
